Enrico Dalla Valle vs Lorenzo Giustino Prediction: Dalla Valle to Vanquish Giustino
- Prediction: Dalla Valle to win
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stakes: 2/10
Odds updated at 2:00 am UK Time on September 16th, 2024.
Giustino has won plenty of matches this season, but he’s still outside of the top 300, thanks to so many of his wins coming in ITF draws and at Challenger 50 events.
Dalla Valle, on the other hand, is probably having the best season of his career. He still hasn’t broken into the top 225, but he’s near his career-high ranking and the late bloomer has been able to make the quarters at a Challenger nine times in 2024.
I don’t think he’ll struggle to generate offense and though he can get a bit spewy from the baseline, much of Giustino’s decline has to do with his unforced errors.
Enrico Dalla Valle Recent Form
Though I think Dalla Valle has had some issues stepping up against better opponents, I will say that he has played strong opposition pretty closely in a lot of his losses. Along with his consistent ability to win matches and make the quarterfinal round at this level, I think he’ll reflect on 2024 and be pleased with the progression he’s had in his game.
The form is just fine, though blowing a 6-0 lead last week against Felix Gill is surely something he’d like to have back.
His record may not have as many wins as Giustino on the dirt, but just four of his 25 victories have come at ITF Tournaments or in the Bundesliga, while his compatriot has won 25 of his 40 wins in those competitions.
Dalla Valle has a decent enough forehand to control play and he should continue to build on a decent 2024 campaign.
Lorenzo Giustino Recent Form
As I alluded to above, though the elder of the two Italians has racked up wins this year on clay, a good chunk of them have come in lower-tier events and in the German Bundesliga. He also has seven of his 15 Challenger wins in Challenger 50s (with entry list restrictions) or qualifying draws.
There’s no doubt that with his ranking now outside the top 300 (he was once a top 150 player) regression is taking place in his game. The unforced errors seem to be more frequent, and he’s also lost a bit of pace in his game as well.
Outside of a few nice wins in his run to the semis in Barcelona at a Challenger, I can count on one hand how many wins I would consider strong ones.
It’s hard for me to believe he’s only the slightest of underdogs in this matchup at this point.
