Coco Gauff vs Paula Badosa Prediction, Picks, Odds, H2H, Stats - 1/20/25

Coco Gauff and Paula Badosa have reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open and the American is listed as a heavy favorite to get past her Spanish counterpart.

For the third straight time this week, Coco Gauff will take on a player previously ranked inside the top 5 of the WTA Rankings and she is 2 – 0 so far!

Badosa has only dropped one set en route to the quarterfinal and the Spaniard is listed at +300 playing the underdog role.

EJ Garr’s prediction for Coco Gauff vs. Paula Badosa features odds at -105 which you can find below.

Coco Gauff vs Paula Badosa WTA Australian Open Prediction: Expect A Tight Affair

  • Prediction: Paula Badosa +4.5 Games
  • Best Odds: -105
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds as of 7:00 am UK Time on January 20, 2025. Odds may now differ.

Coco Gauff did a great job keeping her composure and getting past Belinda Bencic in the fourth round of the Australian Open. Coco was a -500 favorite to ease past Bancic but the win didn’t take shape until the latter portion of the match.

Bencic spent all her energy winning the first set against Coco and her endurance was a factor as the third set transpired. About halfway through the second set, we could see the stamina of Bencic taking effect on her game and Coco plowed her way to a 6 – 1 final frame to move on to the quarters.

Bencic did a tremendous job of making Coco pay for failed first-serves winning so many second-serve chances but the tired legs took its toll for the Swiss mom making the comeback.

Coco should be concerned about that serve as Bencic won 22 of 38 second serve points and the American committed 9 double faults.

Paula Badosa was a -250 favorite against Danilovic and we could see the fire coming back for the Spaniard with some emotional outbursts during the straight-sets win. Badosa enjoyed a full house of fans and reminded us of the level she can play.

Badosa has fought back from a tremendous back issue to playing at a high level again and this will be a big test as a +300 underdog against Coco Gauff.

I expect a tight affair and call for Badosa to keep this match close so the +4.5 games handicap is my prediction for this quarterfinal affair at the Australian Open.

COCO GAUFF RECENT FORM

Coco Gauff cashed a nice paycheck and hoisted a lovely trophy at the year-end WTA Finals.

The American was a semifinalist at the Australian Open for the first time last season and is chasing a second Major title after the 2023 US Open win.

Gauff is riding an 11-match win streak dating back to the WTA finals and is 9 – 0 in 2025.

PAULA BADOSA RECENT FORM

Paula Badosa is playing in her third quarterfinal at a Major Tournament and has yet to pass this stage of any event.

Badosa is ranked 12th on the WTA Tour and is 5 – 2 in 2025. After an opening-round loss at Brisbane, Badosa went 1 – 1 at Adelaide and is 4 – 0 this week at the Australian Open.

GAUFF VS BADOSA HTH –  STAT OF THE MATCH

So we meet again! Gauff and Badosa have met six times on the WTA Tour and have three wins in the series.

Gauff and Badosa met twice last season and Coco won each affair in three sets.

Badosa won three of the first four meetings between 2021 and 2023.

The winner of this match will face Aryna Sabalenka or Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the semifinals of the Australian Open. I have a preview and prediction for that quarterfinal affair so be sure to find that.
