Clara Tauson and Jule Niemeier have changed plenty since their 2021 meeting in Germany. And that makes this first-round match in the Netherlands interesting. 

Tauson was only 18 when they met in that lower-level event in Germany, and Clara swept Niemeier off the court in straight sets, 6 – 4, 6 – 4.

Tauson is the favorite to win this match at about -155, although I see some books going up as high as -180 for the Denmark native to get past Niemeier. 

Whether Tauson does move on in the upper bracket to face the winner of the Linette Montgomery battle in round 2, I am not convinced it will be a repeat of their last meeting.

I don’t think Tauson can stop Niemeier from winning a set, and as I open my own BetMGM profile I see -190 on the German to win at least one set,

Jule Niemeier is 16 –  10 on grass in her career, and she just competed at Surbiton earning one win against Naef before falling to Birrell.
