I can’t say where Shnaider is from but we can talk about her time here in the States when she started college at N.C. State. The 2024 Silver Medallist in doubles enjoyed her trip to Paris with partner Mirra Andreeva. Diana picked up her first win in New York against Podoroska to land in the second round.

Shnaider has enjoyed the North American swing for the most part, and it all started in Toronto after a trip to the semifinals in Canada. The run in Toronto included a big win over what was then the World’s #2 Coco Gauff and the youngster’s confidence is only growing.

Clara Tauson can only beat Anna Schmiedlova lately. Tauson is 2 – 8 over the last 10 outings and both wins have come against Schmiedlova including the first-round win in New York this week. Tauson was pushed to three sets in both wins over Anna and that’s where any success of late stops for the 21-year-old Dane. 

Tauson entered the last Major Tournament in 2024 ranked 67th on the WTA Tour and she is up against one of the hottest players who is 20 – 4 in 24 outings. I don’t try to disrespect anyone on tour but Shnaider will handle this business and progress to the third round with a 6 – 3, 6 – 3 victory. 

That should cover our -4.5 spread and the -108 offer seems fairly valued on Shnaider to advance past Tauson.

Tauson has struggled to find any consistency in 2024. With a 2 – 8 record in her last 10 outings, the Dane can say that Anna Schmiedlova is her only victim in this poor run of results.

With a 14 – 12 record on hardcourts this season, Tauson will have to go on an incredible run in hopes of picking up a third 40-win campaign. Clara is 28 – 20 no thanks to the 0 – 3 on grass, and her run of five straight campaigns with a title could end in 2024 with a big run to finish the campaign.

DIANA SHNAIDER RECENT FORM

The 20-year-old entered New York ranked 18th on the WTA Tour and Shnaider has a 7 – 2 record on hardcourts since her appearance at the Olympics.

Shnaider has won four tournaments in 2024 and has a 20 – 9 record on hardcourts this campaign. With a 44 – 17 record, Diana is guaranteed to finish 2024 with a winning record on all three surfaces while claiming a title on them all as well!
