Jodie Anna Burrage vs Aliona Falei Prediction, Stats, Form, H2H, 12/2/24
Our second preview of the day also comes from the W100 in Dubai, as we look at Jodie Anna Burrage vs Aliona Falei. This is actually a first round match that won’t be played on Monday, but it’s worth going over early, as there’s a decent chance that by the time the dust settles, the player we back is going to be favoured in the betting markets.
These two have been given an even chance to win the match, with each of them at 1.83 odds at the moment.
Jon Reid’s Burrage vs Falei prediction is for Burrage to win.
Jodie Anna Burrage vs Aliona Falei Prediction: Burrage Far Too Good to be Priced as a Coin Flip

Odds as at 11:30 pm UK Time on December 1st, 2024. Odds may now differ.
I want to get this one out early, as I’m fairly certain that by the time it goes off on Tuesday or Wednesday that the Brit will be a decided favourite.
As I mentioned in the first preview from Dubai, it’s important to note that the liquidity can be lower and margins can be higher when betting ITF Tour matches, so I’m going to keep the staking to a lower amount here, but I do believe that this number is far enough off to take advantage of.
The fact is that even though Falei has played decently and amassed a decent number of wins this year, there’s simply a large gulf in talent between these two. When at her best, Burrage is a borderline WTA Tour level player. Falei doesn’t have the weapons to compete at the top end of the women’s game and is far more likely at this juncture to end up being a journeywoman on the lower circuits.
Burrage’s ranking took a tumble in 2024, but that’s almost entirely down to being hurt. She missed nearly seven months of action and was visibly rusty upon her return for a few tournaments as well.
I’ll gladly back her at this price.

Jodie Anna Burrage Recent Form
As I alluded to above, the precipitous drop in Burrage’s ranking to well outside the top-200 comes down almost entirely to missing so much time with injury.
She had worked her way into the top-100 at one point and has a very powerful game built for quick, hard courts.
Much like Hruncakova in our other preview, Burrage should be the player looking to dictate. She’s shaken off the rust that her game was clearly struggling with back in September and October and she’s made a trio of semifinals and an additional final in the last five or six weeks.
It is worth noting that perhaps the accumulated fatigue may have worked against her in her losses, with lopsided final sets, but those all came later in the week, and I don’t think that’s a concern after a few days off from her final against Tatjana Maria (a top-100 player herself) in Trnava.
Aliona Falei Recent Form
On one hand, Falei has won twice as many matches on this surface as she’s lost in 2024. On the other hand? The level of the opponents she’s beaten is shockingly low. Even her last tournament saw her claim a title in Japan, but she did so without beating anyone of significance, with Carol Zhao likely being the best player she came up against.
Throw in a fairly weaponless game and I’m not exactly sure what she does to be given as good of a chance as Burrage to emerge victorious from this contest.
