Belinda Bencic returned late to the WTA Tour last season, and the preparation is paying dividends. Despite entering low-level events late in the 2024 campaign, the Swiss native worked hard to be in good shape entering the 2025 season. So far, so good.

After hoisting the hardware in Abu Dhabi last week, Bencic has claimed her first tournament win as a mom, and the comeback continues. The Swiss native took the week off to avoid overloading her schedule to start the 2025 campaign, and it is a smart move to endure a long WTA season.

Monday featured four upsets of players seeded in the top 16 of the Dubai Tennis Championships, and I don’t believe this will be another case of a letdown for favored Bencic.

The -300 line is extremely insulting, and it would be nice if we could expect Emma Navarro to play quality tennis, but can she? Navarro got thumped in Doha against Leylah Fernandez after taking the humiliating beat down against Iga Swiatek at the Australian Open.

Bencic will not overlook Navarro because she is a top-10-ranked player on the WTA Tour, regardless of either’s recent results. 

I would have loved to suggest this Over 2.5 Sets prop with the odds at +165, but that line tells me all I need to know. The -4 games with the marginal juice of -111 on the Swiss native to propel her way into the third round of this WTA1000 event is the bet to make.

Emma Navarro went 4 – 0 at the Australian Open and was pushed to three sets in all four victories at the first Major Tournament  The American native is ranked 9th and was favored against Leylah Fernandez at -135 in the second round of the Qatar Open. Navarro went down in flames, 6 – 2  6 – 2.

With a 5 – 4 record in 2025, Navarro could see her top-10 ranking diminish with another first-round loss in back-to-back outings.
