A quarterfinal appearance at the Wuhan Open is at stake when Beatriz Haddad Maia takes on Magdalena Frech and the Brazilian native arrives at the third round as a heavy favorite to reach the next stage.

Haddad Maia has enjoyed success against her Polish opponent having earned wins in three meetings with Frech. The line setters opened the line at -250 and that number is climbing closer to -300 on the Brazilian to progress in section 1 of the main draw.

The Polska native came through in a big way against Emma Navarro for our WTA expert and EJ Garr’s Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Magdalena Frech prediction features odds at +163 which you can find below.

Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Magdalena Frech  Prediction: Prepare For A Battle In China!

  • Prediction: Match Total Over 2.5 Sets
  • Best Odds: +163
  • Bookmaker: Unibet
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds as of 7:00 am UK Time on October 10, 2024. Odds may now differ.

Magda Linette upset Emma Navarro in the second round of the Wuhan Open and I’ll take a bow for the +4.5 call on the Polska native to cover that match. Linette won the match in three sets and won the game count, 15 – 13, and here she is in the third round.

Emma Navarro was a significant favorite to get past Linette and the American’s ranking might take a hit for the loss as I mentioned it would should the upset happen. It happened, and now Linette is playing with confidence headed to a match with someone she has never beaten before.

Bet365 is offering a +240 on an upset today in this WTA1000 event in Wuhan and Linette will have to break through Haddad Maia to cash that ticket.

When I started to look into the lines for this match, BetMGM posted an offer of -125 for Linette to win any set in this match yet as a massive underdog with no chance, right? When I saw the +163 at Unibet you could see the smile from New York because we’re going the distance, baby!

Haddad Maia is playing great tennis with 11 wins over the last 13 outings and the avenged loss to Madison Keys to open this event carried over into the second round. Beatriz destroyed Veronika Kudermetova and the 12th-ranked Brazilian would love to be in the top 10 of the WTA rankings.

Haddad Maia 2 – 1 at +300 and the Over 2.5 Sets at +165!

BEATRIZ HADDAD MAIA RECENT FORM

Beatriz Haddad Maia has been rolling since the Cleveland event as part of the North American swing. Since that event, Haddad Maia has a 15 – 3 record and is hovering near the top 10 of the WTA rankings at 12th carrying the 9-seed in Wuhan.

A monster run at the last few events could land her a spot in the top 8 and we all know how important that is with a position in the WTA Finals at stake. (And a boatload of cash)

Haddad Maia is 24 – 14 on hardcourts this season while making her debut at the Wuhan Open.

The Brazilian native is 35 – 24 in 2024 and hasn’t recorded a losing record on any surface for 6 consecutive campaigns.

MAGDALENA FRECH RECENT FORM

Magda Frech is ranked 27th on the WTA Tour and closed the North American swing with a title run at Guadalajara.

Frech made quick work of Mai Hontama before getting past Emma Navarro to win her first battle against a top-10-ranked opponent. (Previously 0 – 15 vs. Top-10 foes)

Frech is 27 – 14 on hard courts with a 9 – 1 record over the last 10 outings and has produced a 40 – 27 record in 2024

HADDAD MAIA VS FRECH H2H –  STAT OF THE MATCH

Haddad Maia and Frech have met three times over the last three campaigns with their most recent clash at Wimbledon in July. Beatriz swept the Polish native out of London for a third win over Linette in three tries.

The first meeting was in 2022 at Birmingham on grass and that was the only encounter in which Linette pushed Haddad Maia to three sets albeit a loss.

Last season in Montreal, Haddad Maia swept Linette at 4 and 2 early in the event.
