Beatriz Haddad Maia will again play the underdog role at the US Open as the Brazilian takes on Karolina Muchova in the quarterfinals.

The Czech Republic native has regained some confidence as her wrist has held up through the first week in New York. At -250, Muchova hasn’t dropped a set in four wins and an impressive win over Paolini has the line setters expecting a trip to the semis at the last Major Tournament of the 2024 campaign.

Beatriz used a strong net presence and a big first-serve percentage to get past Caroline Wozniacki and the Brazilian will need to be aggressive to provide another upset in the Big Apple.

EJ Garr’s Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Karolina Muchova prediction features odds at +140 which you can find below.

Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Karolina Muchova US Open QF Prediction: Buckle Up For A Battle

  • Prediction: Match Total Over 2.5 Sets
  • Best Odds: +140
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds as of 7:00 am UK Time on September 4, 2024. Odds may now differ.

I know you enjoyed my call on Haddad Maia to take out Wozniacki in three sets, and if you slapped down the 2 – 1 sets prop you cashed a +375 ticket!

Did you see the post-match interview with Haddad Maia after she took out Wozniacki? Bea was brought to tears when the crowd chanted, “Ole, Ole Ole Ole, Bea, Bea”! I won’t admit that it gave me a frog in my throat too because then you’ll think I am a sensitive guy, HA!

Bea is playing her best tennis and what a run it’s been since that shoulder injury took her out of Toronto. I spoke of her current run the other day and I am surprised that the line setters give the Brazilian no chance to win this match. At +220, that is a big underdog on a big stage and Muchova looks comfortable.

Bea won 17 of 19 points at the net against Wozniacki and it felt like every first serve she put in play earned her the point. At one point in the second frame, Haddad Maia was cashing in 80% of her first-serve points, and that production better be there today if the Brazilian has any chance of pulling an upset.

Muchova is feeling no ill effects of the wrist injury that cost the Czech most of this season, and I will call for the Over 2.5 Sets because this will amount to an epic three-set quarterfinal affair and the +140 odds suit me fine.

BEATRIZ HADDAD MAIA RECENT FORM

Bea has been pushed to three sets twice in four wins at the US Open, and the Brazilian is attempting to become the first semifinalist from Brazil since Maria Bueno in 1968. She is the first lefthander from South America to reach the quarterfinals of the US Open.

Haddad Maia is ranked 21st on the WTA Tour and has a 17 – 12 record on hardcourts this campaign and her run of four straight seasons with one tournament win is up in the air.

KAROLINA MUCHOVA RECENT FORM

Muchova didn’t start the campaign until Eastbourne in the UK and has only played 15 matches in 2024. With an 11 – 4 record, Karolina is still ranked 52nd on the WTA Tour after closing out 2023 ranked 8th in the world.

Muchova’s only loss in North America came against Jess Pegula in the second round at Cincinnati.

HADDAD MAIA VS MUCHOVA HTH –  STAT OF THE MATCH

Karolina Muchova is 2 – 0 against Bea Haddad Maia and this is the first meeting between them this season.

They first met in 2022 and the Czech Republic native earned a straight-sets win near home over the Brazilian at Ostrava

They last met in 2023 at Cincinnati and Muchova won the early-round battle in three sets.
