Clara Tauson is favored with odds at -180, excuse me? Tauson is 0 – 7 in her last 7 outings dating back to June 2 at the French Open, and the line setters want us to think the Dane has all of that worked out.

I am sorry but I am not buying an ounce of what Tauson is selling coming into the Tennis in the Land event in Cleveland. I was even more amazed when the lines first came out as Tauson was only -145 and within a few hours it jumped to -175 and -180. 

The betting public liked the -145 on Tauson so much that it inflated the chalk to a stupid number now, and I am putting on the underdog front and center! 

Tauson is not only 0 – 7 in her last 7 matches but the Dane has only won a single set from those 7 losses. Investing money in that type of recent form isn’t something you’ll catch me doing.

Schmiedlova’s Olympic run might have ended with a fourth-place finish off the podium, but let’s not lose track of the wins Anna pulled off to get that Bronze Medal match. Katie Boulter, Beatriz Haddad Maia, Jasmine Paolini, and Barbora Krejcikova were victims of Schmiedlova in Paris and that is a list of notable names. 

I have Anna providing a first-round upset of Tauson and that price of +152 is gorgeous to start the week with a bang!

Anna’s most recent outing was in Paris at the Olympics, so it will be interesting to watch if the 17-day layoff affects the Croatian native. I mentioned her opponents at the Summer Games and wins over Paolini and Krejcikova were confidence-builders as they both have been playing their best tennis lately.

Schmiedlova is 10 – 8 on hardcourts this season and the 75th-ranked player on the WTA Tour is  27 – 19 in 2024. 

CLARA TAUSON RECENT FORM

Clara Tauson’s last win came on May 31 at the French Open against Sonya Kenin, and the 67th-ranked Denmark native is 12 – 11 on hardcourts this campaign. A loss would level the record to even and no one knows where Tauson’s head is at right now.
