Anna Kalinskaya vs Simona Waltert WTA Singapore Open Prediction: Top Seed Eyeing Quarters

  • Prediction: Match Total Over 21 Games
  • Best Odds: -108
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds as of 7:00 am UK Time on January 28, 2025. Odds may now differ.

Anna Kalinskaya is the top-seeded player at the Singapore Open and her relationship status with Janik Sinner is the talk of the town. No one knows the truth because it depends on what outlet you listen to, but that’s her personal life so let’s stay out of that.

That could affect Kalinskaya on the court creating a concern but taking on Simona Waltert isn’t supposed to present major difficulties.  Waltert is a full-time ITF-level player and should be overmatched and overwhelmed as long as Kalinskaya is in the right head-space.

Whether Kalinskaya is distracted or not, she is not playing like someone who should be ranked 18th on the WTA Tour. After opening the 2025 campaign with a loss against Ashlyn Krueger favored at -175 in Brisbane, Kalinskaya faced Belinda Bencic at Adelaide and dropped the first set, 6 – 2.

After losing the first game in the second set, she walked off the court and barely escaped her first-round clash with Caroline Dolehide to open the Singapore Open.

That kind of start to the season isn’t instilling confidence for Kalinskaya and it gives Simona Waltert the perfect chance to pick up a win against a top-20 player on the WTA Tour. The Swiss native only has one top-10 upset in her career against Dani Collins, so this would be a big win for 179th-ranked Waltert.

I hope Waltert keeps it close and pushes this total over 21 games to cash our ticket at -108. A set win would be helpful and BetMGM is posting -120 odds for Waltert to take one set in this match.

ANNA KALINSKAYA RECENT FORM

Anna Kalinskaya made an impressive leap in the WTA Rankings from 76th to 14th last season.

Kalinskaya is 1 – 2 to start the 2025 campaign after producing a 38 – 19 record in 2024.

SIMONA WALTERT RECENT FORM

Simona Waltert was listed at +115 against Eala in the final qualifying match and was an underdog at +122 against Tomljanovic. Being an underdog again is to be expected against the top seed at the Singapore Open but Waltert can gain some big confidence with a good showing today.

Waltert is 7 – 3 to start the 2025 campaign and picked up four wins at Canberra to kick off the season.

KALINSKAYA VS WALTERT HTH –  STAT OF THE MATCH
