Anna Blinkova is listed at -125 at bet365 to pick up a first-round win at the Charleston Open, but that is the lowest price I can find. On average, -135 odds are featured on a Blinkova win in South Carolina, but I am turning to the handicap.

The -1 on Blinkova is set at -114, and the -1.5 spread is about a dime better at -105. I don’t think it will matter much, but I am not shy about leaving myself in a position to push action if it comes to that.

The fact that Blinkova is 3 – 0 against Li was the first influence toward the -1 play, but seeing that all of those wins have come on US soil is amazing. Li hasn’t been able to defeat Blinkova yet, and I don’t see it happening today either.

You would think that Li would be the one inspired to be in the States, and Li is ranked nearly 20 points ahead of Blinkova, yet isn’t favored. 

Things have turned in the wrong direction for Li, who looked so good in Singapore and has lost the last four straight outings.

Losses to Irina Begu and Taylor Townsend in back-to-back outings instill no confidence for Li to succeed against an opponent who has owned her.

Give me Blinkova and the marginal game, and if you have to settle for the -1.5, just do it!

Ann Li is 0 – 4 in the last four outings, looking for an ounce of confidence. Landing Anna Blinkova in the first round of the Charleston Open probably isn’t the best thing for the American, who hasn’t figured out how to beat her yet on tour.

Li starts the week ranked 66th on the WTA Tour, and is 8 – 7 this season.

The 24-year-old Pennsylvania native went 22 – 9 on clay last season with a title earned at the Valencia Challenger.

ANNA BLINKOVA RECENT FORM

Anna Blinkova is ranked 85th on the WTA Tour and is 10 – 8 to start the 2025 campaign.

Blinkova was a dismal 2 – 8 on clay last season, but was 26 – 17 during the 2022-23 season on the dirt.
