After providing the biggest upset from the 2025 Australian Open on Tuesday against Qinwen Zheng, Laura Siegemund is an underdog again against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

Siegemund swept Zheng out of the first Major Tournament of the 2025 campaign and was listed at +1400 given no chance to win the match. That’s why we play the games and Siegemund is listed at +150 against favored Pavlyuchenkova at Melbourne Park.

EJ Garr’s prediction for Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova vs Laura Siegemund is: Match Total Over 2.5 Sets

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova vs Laura Siegemund WTA Australian Open Prediction: Setting Up For A Thriller

  • Prediction: Match Total Over 2.5 Sets
  • Best Odds: +135
  • Bookmaker: BetMGM
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds as of 7:00 am UK Time on January 16, 2025. Odds may now differ.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Anastasia Potapova gave us a three-set winner with another offer full of plus-money value from their second-round clash. After Pavlyuchenkova won the first set in a tie-break, Potapova responded with a 6 – 2 second frame that forced the match to go the distance.

It went exactly as I expected, and I foresee another three-set match coming from this third-round affair at Melbourne Park between Pavlyuchenkova and Siegemund. Potapova broke Pavlyuchenkova seven times in the first two sets, but the eventual winner dominated the final frame, 6 – 2.

Siegemund wiped out Qinwen Zheng in embarrassing fashion and the +1400 underdog barked with a big bite en route to the third round. Being a +150 underdog isn’t quite as disrespectful as +1400 but I don’t see why Laura Siegemund can’t take a set from Anastasia Pavlyucheknova today.

At +142, Pinnacle is graciously giving us enough value to stick to my favorite prop bet because we have been cashing these tickets all week at the Australian Open. In case you missed it, I haven’t lost a prediction in 2025 and plus-money offers have been on the board every time!

You can’t be the Mayor of Value City without giving the people the value!

This is Pavlyuchenkova’s 17th appearance at the Australian Open and she has been a quarterfinalist in three of those showings.

We’re going the distance and the +142 offer on the Over 2.5 Sets prop goes on the board!

ANASTASIA PAVLYUCHENKOVA RECENT FORM

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova opened the 2025 campaign with a loss to Marketa Vondrousova at Adelaide but is 2 – 0 this week at Melbourne Park.

The 32nd-ranked 33-year-old defeated Yue Yuan in the first round and Anastasia Potapova in the second round but both outings have gone the distance.

LAURA SIEGEMUND RECENT FORM

Laura Siegemund was given no chance to beat Qinwen Zheng and the line setters had to dish out some good money for anyone who believed in the German to pull the upset. Taking out the 5-seed and picking up a win against a top-5 opponent is a huge confidence booster.

Siegemund started the week ranked 97th and hasn’t appeared in the top 50 since 2016 (31st).

The German native completed a 13th season with a winning record last year.

PAVLYUCHENKOVA VS SIEGEMUND HTH –  STAT OF THE MATCH

Pavlyuchenkova and Siegemund haven’t met since their only match in 2016 at Stuttgart where the German native earned a straight sets win.

The winner of this match will face Diana Shnaider or Donna Vekic in the fourth round of the Australian Open.
