Amanda Anisimova favored with -200 odds against anyone makes me shake my head. The fact Anisimova is listed 35th on the WTA Tour is another joke because I do not think she fits the bill.
Anismova should be ranked outside the top 50 and does not belong anywhere near the top 25 for what she has accomplished over the last two years. Amanda was 3 – 8 in 2023 before taking a ‘mental break’ and her ranking fell to 369th. Now she is ranked 35th after an injury-filled 21 – 13 2024 season?
I am sorry but I do not see a confident American who is playing well enough to kick anyone’s ass and Xiyu Wang will give Anisimova a battle today. In similar circumstances from my Birrell vs Kudermetova preview, Wang to win a set in this match is listed at -175 at BetMGM.
That is about the same price that Birrell has against Kudermetova and it is why I am pushing for a three-set match between Anisimova and Wang.
There is no need to pay for that option when we can expect a 3-set affair that puts +144 value in our pockets.
I do wish that I could find an impressive outing from Wang recently to count on but the Chinese native did take out Erika Andreeva at Hobart.
Regardless, I do not respect Animisova’s game enough to think she can sweep Wang off the court so the Over 2.5 sets prop goes on the board.
