Amanda Anisimova vs Anna Kalinskaya Prediction, Picks, Odds, H2H, Stats - 8/9/24
Amanda Anisimova and Anna Kalinskaya will face off on Friday at the National Bank Open with a spot in the quarterfinal on the line. EJ Garr’s Amanda Anisimova vs Anna Kalinskaya prediction features odds at -105 which you can find below.
Kalinskaya will face a second American opponent in Toronto this week after getting past Louisa Chirico in the first round. After an easy win over Lesia Tsurenko as a heavy favorite on Thursday in the second round, Kalinskaya has the chalk set at -125 on the early line to get past Anisimova.
Anisimova has regained the desire to be a regular on tour and a win over the 5th-seeded Kasatkina could provide more confidence in Canada.

Amanda Anisimova vs Anna Kalinskaya Prediction
- Prediction: Anna Kalinskaya -1.5 Games Handicap
- Best Odds: -105
- Bookmaker: Pinnacle
- Stakes: 3/10
Odds updated at 7:00 am UK Time on August 9, 2024.
It took some time for these lines to come out, as it is 22:00 on the East Coast and we are finally seeing odds posted for the next phase of the National Bank Open. The opening lines show Kalinskaya listed at -125 but time will tell if that holds up by match time.
I will assume that Kalinskaya might be closer to -140 when this match begins at 12:30 local Toronto time but I can’t update that in the morning.
When that line was posted on Kalinskaya to win, the handicap offer drew my attention and the -1.5 offer suits me fine. I am not one to post favorites very often but when I do I drink Dos Equis… Wait, what? Ha!
Anisimova can’t win this third-round clash and it has nothing to do with ranking 132nd going up against the 17th-ranked player on the WTA Tour. Even though Kalinskaya hasn’t won a tournament this campaign, the International is still 20 – 6 this season on hardcourts and playing well.
Despite some battles with the back and thigh injury this season, Kalinskaya is no stranger to playing in pain over the last 3-4 years.
Anisimova exacted some revenge against Caroline Dolehide to open Section 4 play in the first round against Caroline Dolehide. Dolehide knocked Amanda out of the Washington DC tournament five days earlier.
It all comes down to talent and I have Kalinskaya advancing to the quarterfinal of the National Bank Open and covering the -1.5 games handicap at -105.
AMANDA ANISIMOVA RECENT FORM
Anisimova has been gaining confidence after the well-documented time away from tour and the only surface she could have a winning record on is hardcourts. Amanda was 2 – 2 on grass and 2 – 4 on clay this year but the 10 – 3 record on hardcourts has the record at 14 – 9 this year.
The 22-year-old Amerca native has only appeared in 33 matches over the last two years but is 6 – 1 in her last 7 games after the run to the quarterfinal in Washington last week.
Once ranked 23rd in the world in 2022, Anisimova hopes to finish the 2024 campaign on the court with 2025 already in mind. Boosting the ranking from 132 to inside the top 100 before the end of the season will be a tall order.
ANNA KALINSKAYA RECENT FORM
Anna Kalinslaya has yet to win a WTA event but has still climbed to the 17th in the rankings. The two career wins have come at the ITF/Challenger level but the 25-year-old is getting closer.
Anna only played in two grass events this year and the first stop in Berlin ended in the finals before a run to the Round of 8 at Wimbledon.
Kalinskaya went 7 – 0 in Dubai before losing to Paolini in the final, another meeting that went the distance with a title on the line as was the Berlin finale.
ANISIMOVA VS KALINSKAYA H2H – STAT OF THE MATCH
This will be the first meeting between Amanda Anisimova and Anna Kalinskaya on any surface.
The winner of this third-round affair will face the victor of the match between Katie Boulter and Aryna Sabalenka in the National Bank Open quarterfinals.
