Alize Cornet walked off the Roland Garros court last season, announcing that it would be the last event in her career. After six months off, Cornet got the bug to make a return, and 10 months later, she is in Spain with two wins and a quarterfinal appearance in her first tournament since returning.

Cornet has been telling every news outlet that she is feeling like a teenager again, and from what we have seen so far this week, it is hard to argue with that.

Cornet could have easily been happy with a win in her return after dropping the first set against Susan Bandecchi, but Le Mademoiselle wasn’t going out like that. The hardest thing to get back after a long layoff is your stamina, and Cornet showed us a lot by taking the match to three sets and winning the final frame, 7 – 5. 

Wins like that will give Cornet an edge for her emotional game, and the 532nd ranking means nothing at this point. 

The +3.5 games with Cornet are reasonably priced at -104, and that is a great play to make if you want to have action on this match.

I will take the +174 on the French native to win, because I want to see Cornet continue to succeed in her return.

Galfi hasn’t won more than two affairs at any event this season, and with two wins this week, she tends to fall apart at this stage.

Alize Cornet is 2 – 0 this season. And that puts a wrap on that, Ha!

Cornet hung up the laces after last year’s French Open. She retired from tennis because 2024 was full of time off the court, and aging legs are hard to keep in form when you are injured. An 8 – 13 record left the French native down on herself, and she thought she couldn’t compete at any level with injuries and life getting in the way.

Let’s see if that 35-year-old ‘teenager’ can find another win today. 

DALMA GALFI RECENT FORM

Dalma Galfi has yet to win three outings from the first nine tournaments she has entered in 2025. The Hungarian native has slipped 18 spots in the WTA Rankings since the beginning of the season, and is 9 – 9 overall this year.

Galfi went 5 – 7 and 6 – 12 on clay over the last two campaigns, but does have one tournament title on the dirt from the 2021 season.
