Alina Charaeva vs Anastasia Zakharova WTA100 Zaragoza ITF Prediction: Compatriots Square Off In Quarters
- Prediction: Match Total Over 21 Games
- Best Odds: -108
- Bookmaker: Pinnacle
- Stakes: 3/10
Odds as of 7:00 am UK Time on April 11, 2025. Odds may now differ.
Alina Charaeva hasn’t enjoyed any success against Anastasia Zakharova, sporting a 0 – 4 record from four meetings on the WTA Tour. The line setters recognize that, and have -195 odds on Zakharova to continue dominating the series against Charaeva.
One thing Charaeva does have going for her is the momentum from upsetting the #1-seed yesterday, Mayar Sherif. Sherif was heavily favored to ease past Charaeva, and the top-seeded Egyptian native won the first set, 6 – 4.
The +250 underdog mounted one heck of a comeback, winning both the second and third sets, 7 – 6, to advance to the quarterfinals of a WTA100-level event. Taking advantage of this opportunity to reach the semifinals is the obvious goal, but I think the run is about to end here for Charaeva.
The 4 – 0 for Zakharova against Charaeva matters, and the competition level that Zakharova has faced is much higher than what Charaeva is used to seeing.
All four of the previous meetings have been no higher than a WTA50 event, and this is a step up from that at WTA100. I think Charaeva did a great job getting here, but the Zakharova experience on clay is another concern I have for the favorite.
All I can see is a 7 – 6 opening set, and a total that flies over 21 games. The Over 2.5 sets has lovely odds of +145, and that is an option one should consider for this match, unlike the other four meetings in which Zakharova hasn’t lost a set. Zakharova to win the match 2 – 1 has odds of +350, so there’s that play full of value!
The first set over 9.5 games is another bet you should have on your card for the reason I just stated. Enjoy your weekend with some options!
