This match seems like a battle of two very consistent, grinding style players, but one is the much better clay courter and one is much more proficient when it comes to playing attacking tennis and dictating play.

In both instances, that’s Muller, and for him to be priced at 1.80 – or well under 60% – to win the match, he’s a must-play for me. Our Muller vs Albot prediction is for Muller to win.

We have plenty more content from the Internazionali BNL d’Italia over in the expert insights section.

Alexandre Muller Recent Form

In his second year on the main circuit, Muller has struggled in a big way to maintain the top-100 level he managed in 2023. With that said, a lot of his struggles so far on the clay swing have been attributable to his tough draws. He’s had to deal with the likes of Jaume Munar and Casper Ruud in second-round contests, had an injury problem that cost him another match in Madrid, and had a loss from a setup to talented youngster Luca Nardi.

I don’t think Albot would measure up against any one of those three names on a clay court, and he doesn’t have all that many weapons to trouble Muller.

With a great consistent game from the baseline and the ability to mix in some strong offensive play, Muller’s well-rounded game should be able to stick with Albot’s more push-centric weaponless game, while also finishing points.

Radu Albot Recent Form

The Moldovan has won as many matches on clay since the start of 2023 as he did in the prior four seasons combined.

Some of that is undoubtedly due to him being more comfortable now on dirt courts, but I also think some of that is a function of his scheduling. His best win of the year on clay has been against Pedro Martinez. Other than that, he has very little to write home about in the way of quality wins on clay.

He’s typically struggled to find much offense on the surface and though he’s increased the amount of spin he plays with, he still doesn’t have the weight of shot that pushes players behind the baseline and forces opponents into more defensive shots.

Even with Muller’s puttering form, I would make the case this would be one of Albot’s top three wins on the season on clay. If he can pull it off, good on him, but I don’t think his ability on the surface warrants this kind of price.

Alexandre Muller vs Radu Albot H2H – Stat of the Match

Only one meeting between these two in the past. It came just over a year ago in Quimper, France on the Challenger circuit and saw Albot win convincingly.

That match was not only on hard courts but indoors as well, which would shift things significantly in the 34-year-old’s favor.
