1.  Usman vs Covington – Usman by KO/TKO/DQ or Submission

This rematch has been in the making for a long time, and will likely be the most popular fight on the card. A lot of bad blood between these two fighters, so don’t be surprised if you don’t see a lot of sportsmanship.

Usman won their recent fight at UFC 245 by TKO in the 5th round. Although it was a spectacular and close fight, Colby was unable to withstand Usman’s strikes. Usman has since defeated Jorge Masvidal twice and Gilbert Burns, both by KO/TKO.

Kamaru Usman is an elite UFC fighter with no holes in his game. His foundation has always been wrestling, but he has improved his striking in recent years to the point where it is now his main weapon. He is undefeated in the UFC, has never been knocked out in his MMA career, and the only submission loss to his record came back in 2013. At this point, there are very few ways in which any of the fighters in the Welterweight division can hope to beat him.

Although Colby Covington has been a force in the Welterweight division in recent years, he simply doesn’t have enough in his arsenal to take down Usman at this point. His performance in their first fight was phenomenal, and even then he couldn’t get the job done. This 5-round fight will give Usman more than enough time to put Colby away again and defend the Welterweight title for the 5th time in a row.

2. Namajunas vs Zhang – Under 4.5 rounds

Another title rematch between two elite fighters, but this time in the female Strawweight division. Rose Namajunas and Weili Zhang faced each other in April of this year, and Thug Rose got the job done in the 1st round via head-kick KO. This was an unexpected turn of events and Magnum is back to try and retain the UFC Strawweight title.

Weili Zhang is the slight favourite in this one, but nothing is certain. Both fighters have shown incredible striking technique and power in their recent fight, and the only thing that we can count on is that it will not last all 5 rounds. Namajunas wasn’t exactly known for her KO power until recently, but her KO wins over Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Weili Zhang have put her among the heavy-hitters.

Meanwhile, Weili Zhang has been knocking fighters out since 2015 and is known as one of the most powerful fighters the Strawweight division has ever seen with 10 KO wins on her resume. With a background in kickboxing, her striking has always been on an elite level, and her recent loss to Namajunas was her 1st KO loss in her career.

Both fighters are very dangerous strikers and I don’t expect the fight to go the distance.

3. Gaethje vs Chandler – Chandler to win

Justin Gaethje has established a reputation for being one of the most powerful strikers in the UFC in recent years. He holds notable KO/TKO wins over Edson Barboza, Donald Cerrone and Tony Ferguson. But his two biggest weaknesses as a fighter are his defence and grappling. Justin tends to drop his hands and engage in striking exchanges with his opponents, which is never a good idea. But it’s his grappling his biggest weakness in this one. His fight against Khabib is when we got to see exactly how uncomfortable Justin is on the ground, and I think this is what Michael Chandler will use when the fight comes down to the wire. He has fought in more than a year, and cage rust will definitely be a negative factor for him.

Michael Chandler is coming off a KO/TKO loss to Charles Oliveira. That said, he is a very dangerous fighter with the ability to finish the fight in a hurry. Apart from his striking, he has the option to shoot for takedowns against Gaethje. He is comfortable on the ground, and has 7 submission wins in his MMA career. This makes him the more versatile fighter, and if he is smart, he is going to his grappling as much as possible. At 2.75 odds to win, Chandler is the best value pick of the bunch, and I have no problem backing him in this one.

4. Shahbahzyan vs Imamov – Imamov to win

This is the only fight that isn’t on the main card, and for good reason. There isn’t much betting value left in this event, and Nassourdin Imamov provides exactly that.

Edmen Shahbahzyan has had a good run in the UFC so far, but his recent form hasn’t been up to par. With losses to Derek Brunson and Jack Hermansson, he is on a  2-fight losing streak. Despite being a solid striker, his conditioning has been a problem in every match, and he simply doesn’t match up well against this opponent. I think he has reached his peak, and unless he makes some significant coaching changes, he won’t be able to reach the next level.

Meanwhile, Nassourdine Imamov is a solid volume striker, with an excellent chin, and solid grappling. His cardio is excellent and loves to attack the body and mix things up on the feet. The 3-round fight doesn’t go in his favour, but his reach advantage and grappling should tip the scales. I expect a decision victory for Imamov in this one, but just backing him to win in the 1X2 at 1.80 odds still provides solid value.
