1. Alexander Volkanovski vs Brian Ortega

Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega have never faced each other in the octagon, but their rivalry in The Ultimate Fighter Series has given us a state of what we can expect.

Brian Ortega is one of the most dangerous opponents in the Featherweight division. His game has evolved immensely since his fight against Max Halloway, and he impressed in his bout against the Korean Zombie. His striking looks sharp, his ground game is lethal and he is poised to make his second attempt at the title successful. He has come a long way in recent years, but the question remains whether he is ready to take down the champion.

On the other hand, Alexander Volkanovski is the Featherweight champion for a reason. He is a very well-rounded fighter, with deadly striking and solid grappling skills. He has very few weaknesses, and he is known for his exceptional cardio. Volkanovski beat Max Halloway twice and is on a 19-fight winning streak. His only KO defeat came early in his career, and he is known as a very durable fighter. He is in impeccable shape coming into this fight and looks ready to make his second title defence.

2. Valentina Shevchenko vs Lauren Murphy

Lauren Murphy has come a long way since starting her MMA journey in 2010 and has a record of 15 wins and 4 losses in her career. With the ACF Women’s Featherweight title and the Invicta FC Bantamweight titles under her belt, Murphy has set her sights on the UFC Flyweight title. However, she will be facing one of the most dangerous opponents the UFC has to offer, and her road to the title will come to an end.

Valentina Shevchenko has spent most of her life practising martial arts and is the most well-rounded fighter and dangerous fighter in the Flyweight division.  She is a 2nd dan black belt in Taekwondo, master of Muay Thai, Boxing, Kick-Boxing, and Judo. With victories over Joanna Jędrzejczyk, Jessica Andrade, and Holly Holm, Shevchenko has been competing at the highest level for years and is looking to make her 6th title defence in this division.  She is the sharper striker, better grappler and has experience fighting 5-round events, and five rounds is more than enough time for the Bullet to get herself another KO/TKO win.

3. Nick Diaz vs Robbie Lawler

After more than 6 years away from the octagon, Nick Diaz will make his return at UFC 266 for a rematch against an old nemesis – Robbie Lawler. In their first encounter, Lawler was already an established star and Diaz was a hungry young fighter looking to make a name for himself.

However, Nick Diaz is simply not the same fighter anymore. Even though he has been training during his time, it wasn’t at a professional level, and he will need some time to adjust to the octagon again. He is known as a very durable fighter and looks in shape coming into the fight, but he simply isn’t the same hungry up-and-comer he once was.

On the other side, Robbie Lawler has been actively competing since 2001 and has consistently had 2 fights per year in the last decade. He is currently on a 4-fight losing streak, but he has faced very tough competition during that streak for the most part. He is still a very dangerous striker, is in excellent fighting shape, as usual. I don’t believe the fight will go the distance at their age, but Lawler definitely has a huge advantage coming into this one.

4. Marlon Moraes vs Merab Dvalishvili

Marlon Moraes has been in the UFC since 2017 and is known as a lethal striker, and a proficient grappler with 10 KO/TKO and 6 submission wins in his MMA career. However, he has lost 3 of his last 4 fights and has suffered  KO/TKO losses in his last two bouts. It’s very difficult to come back from such adversity, even more difficult at age 33.

Merab Dvalishvili is an up-and-coming Bantamweight star and is working his way up the UFC rankings and working toward a title fight. He is ona 6-fight winning streak, and his grappling is the main reason behind it. With a black belt in Judo, Dvalishvili easily gets his opponent to the ground and applies pressure. He is a master at decision wins, so he will be happy to repeatedly take Moraes to the ground and smother him for the whole three rounds.

5. Uros Medic vs Jalin Turner

The final fight in our acca today features somewhat unknown fighters in Uros Medic and Jalin Turner. Turner has been in the UFC since 2018 and has an MMA record of 10 wins and 5 losses. The most concerning thing about him is that he has already suffered 3 Ko/Tko losses at the age of 26. He is too big for the Lightweight division and his weight cuts negatively affect his durability and stamina.

Meanwhile, Uros Medic has only fought under the UFC spotlight twice, and what he has shown is incredible. The speed with which he moves around the octagon and the ease with which he finishes his opponents has opened the eyes of the UFC. He still has a lot to prove, but I am counting on his speed and striking to get the job done against a slower opponent. Medic’s grappling is also solid and he hasn’t been finished in his MMA career yet with a record of 7-0.
