Former UFC light-heavyweight champ Jiri Prochazka faces off against Aleksandar Rakic. The latter was once one of the most exciting prospects in the division, but injuries have derailed his career. He is now making a comeback from an injury after a 2-year absence for UFC 300 hoping to finally earn a shot at the title. My Prochazka vs Rakic prediction and betting picks will be available below!

The bookmakers give Prochazka a flat 50% win probability while Rakic is available at around 1.80 odds. William Hill is offering even money odds for both fighters and Over 2.5 rounds is priced at 2.15 odds. The books expect a KO in this one! Prochazka vs Rakic Prediction, Picks: Value in the Prelims

  • Selection: Rakic to Win
  • Best Odds: 1.91
  • Bookmaker: William Hill
  • Stake: 6/10

Odds are available as of April 10h 2024. Odds may now.

I’m going to say that for this fight, the biggest factor will be Jiri’s hands. Whether he keeps his hands next to his chin will determine his future in general. We have seen him drop his hands to his waits too many times, throughout his career, and 5 months ago, Alex Pereira made him pay. He is coming off a recent TKO loss and I don’t think coming back in April was the best option here.

It’s not like Rakic is coming into this fight in perfect circumstances. He suffered a knee injury 2 years ago against Jan Blachowicz and has been inactive since. Don’t expect him to come back at 100% right away, but there are factors that I expect to tip the balance of the fight.

For one, Rakic looks in excellent shape coming into the fight, and his training footage is solid. He is the more tactical fighter and his striking is more technical. He has received a lot of negative comments for making his fights boring, but that’s exactly what we need. Give me a nice and boring, safe win for Rakic. My Prochazka vs Rakic prediction is for Rakic to win.

Jiri Prochazka – The Samurai is Back

In just 3 UFC bouts, former Rizin champion Jiri Prochazka won the light-heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira. In a very short period, Jiri became a fan favorite due to his unique approach to training and lifestyle, Apart from being weird, he is also a very dangerous fighter. 25 of his 29 career wins have come via KO/TKO, 3 by submission and 1 by decision.

Since joining the UFC, he has put away Volkan Oezdemir, Dominick Reyes, and Glover Teixeira. His recent fight was against Alex Pereira for the vacant division title, and Jiri suffered his 3rd career loss by TKO. Despite landing 5.31 shots per minute, he also absorbs 5.17 hits and this could cost him this weekend as well. We will see whether he has recovered from that fight, but I’m not optimistic.

Aleksandar Rakic – Rocket Ready for Launch

Aleksandar Rakic is currently 5th in the UFC light-heavyweight rankings despite the absence. He holds an MMA record of 14 wins and 3 losses and is 3-2 since 2019. The lack of activity is a huge minus for the former prospect, but we hope he becomes consistent after this comeback.

He lost to Oezdemir by split decision and to Blachowicz by TKO (injury) but has beaten Thiago Santos, Anthony Smith, and Jummy Manuwa.  His skillset is unquestionable, but fans have complained that he isn’t exciting to watch anymore, but that’s exactly what we need as bettors right now.

Prochazka vs Rakic H2H: Stats Favor the Safer Fighter

Aleksandar Rakic is taller by 3 cm, but Jiri Prochazka has a longer reach by 5 cm.

Prochazka is the more active striker, as Rakic lands 4.01 strikes per minute. However, he only absorbs 2.30 per minute compared to Jiri’s 5.17. Rakic’s takedown defence is at 90% while Prochazka’s is just 68%.
