Oh, yes he did just go Kings ML! So, did you see the lines for game 1 between Edmonton and LA? The Oilers were heavily favoured at 1.50 because the Kings had no chance to win the opening game of the series… Hmm hmm, sure they didn’t and here we are for game 2 in Edmonton and there is no way the Kings can take a 2 – 0 series lead, right?
That is music to my ears because all the general NHL playoff bettors will be laying multiple goals with the Oilers to smash the Kings in game 2 and level the series at 1 – 1 going back to LA. The Oilers are listed at 2.20 on the puck line which means a 2-goal victory will have to come your way to cash that ticket.
Let’s talk about game 1 because nothing else really matters at this point of the year. Rankings that mean noting anymore and statistics from the regular season that have no bearing on the outcome of tonight’s game will do you no good. The Oilers had won all 3 meetings in 2022 against the Kings going into Monday night’s affair and what did that get the Oilers?
A 4 – 3 loss in game 1 is what it got them, and not one point came from any 1st line KIngs players. The Kings jumped out to an early 2 – 0 lead in the 1st period and the Oilers’ power play got them back in the game in the 2nd period as the game was tied 3 – 3 going to the 3rd period.
Phillip Danault scored the only goal of the final frame and that sent the loud Oilers crowd home disappointed and now hoping they get back in the series tonight. I believe they will be disappointed once again and the Kings will be going back home with a 2 – 0 series lead looking to take complete control of the series. After watching how the Kings earned the game 1 win they should obviously have the same approach and do their best to stay away from going down a man. The Oilers’ man-advantage is about as dangerous as they come and the Kings know it all too well.
Conor McDavid’s only goal of the game came late in the first period to cut the Kings’ lead in half at 2 – 1 but he was limited to one helper in the last 2 frames. McDavid led all Oilers in time on the ice skating for 25:33 only winning 4 of 11 faceoffs.
Danault and Anže Kopitar tried to pretty much take every face off for LA with the two combining to win 27 of 50 drops of the puck in game 1. Kopitar did a great job of getting back and filling the lanes as he blocked 4 shots in his own end because he knows what time of year it is. Getting back on defence has been a big part of his game and it’s why he has a big, fat C on his sweater!
The oddsmakers want to convince you to take the Edmonton puck line and I am here to tell you otherwise and think underdog… Again! At 2.70, there is a ton of value in LA to win game 2 of this series and I believe we will see exactly that. Kings Win!
