The Oilers and Kings are deadlocked with 2 wins apiece and that makes game 5 a pivotal contest in what is now a best-of-3 playoff series. Our resident NHL expert Ej Garr has found a tip that we will hopefully be cashing by the end of the first period with lovely odds of 2.50 on the action.

Edmonton vs Los Angeles Best Bet

May 11, 03:00 (UK time)

The series started with a 4 – 3 Kings win in Edmonton and that has been the only game to this point that saw both teams score in the opening frame. I called for that to happen in Game 1 and I have not played the prop since so maybe that’s why they haven’t done it over the last 3 games‽

All right, I don’t get that cocky about it although you are probably getting used to my brash and confident style of capping the games by now. I think we all know that coming up with the right bets is a matter of experience and turning those gut feelings into winners and I just see a 1 – 1 first period coming our way in Game 5 tonight.

The fact that it hasn’t happened since Game 1 has me thinking they might finally repeat it tonight for a couple of reasons. Firstly, this has not been a season of defensive hockey, and I know this because I bet on the Grand Salami every night. If you know your totals you know the prop bet and I have been betting on it for 20 years.

Totals are my thing and I like to think because I watch so much hockey and I know these two teams enough to suspect we might see some goal scoring early in this game. In the past, Game 4 of a 2 – 2 series can be tough to predict because of the fact that everyone is tight not wanting to be the guy who makes the mistakes that costs the team a goal. In this day and age, a goal is nothing to make up and sure, defence in the post-season usually tightens up with seeing more blocked shots and deflections but it hasn’t slowed down the shot counts.

Hell, we are seeing in this series too with the snowman in LA for Edmonton where 10 goals were scored by both teams combined. Playoffs? Playoffs? Talkin’ bout, playoffs? LoL (Yeah, you know who I am mocking with that one, I hope)

Even though the Kings tend to hang their hat on the defensive efforts they put forth on a nightly basis, things got away from them in Game 3 and then results like Game 4 happen. Shutting out Edmonton hasn’t been done since the Golden Knights did it to them back on February 8th – 44 Games ago!!

Now, how often has a team dumped 8 goals on their opponent and then got shut out the next time out against them in the playoffs, but I assume it’s been a while. I think everyone who caught Game 4 was sitting there with their jaws dropped watching Edmonton just fail time and again, but the Kings threw 46 pucks on net themselves in the 4 – 0 win.

I am just seeing a 1 – 1 1st period and then the line attached to the action really just turned me on! I see 2.55 at a handful of sites for the BTTS in period 1 but I have 2.50 so that will have to do. I love 2.50 lines especially when we have the potential to cash the ticket in 20 minutes.

  • Selection: BTTS 1st Period
  • Best odds: 2.48 (Unibet)
  • Stakes 4/10

Odds as of 9:30 am May 10th, 2022. Odds may now differ.
