NHL Best Bet: Tuesday, April 26th
The Colorado Avalanche have fallen on hard times as they continue to struggle to find wins down the stretch of the regular season. Our resident NHL expert Ej Garr has been covering it all and he has another impressive offer of 2.50 on a road underdog from the Avalanche vs Blues contest on Tuesday.

The Avalanche have certainly picked the wrong time of the season to be playing their worst hockey but they have already secured home ice in the Western Conference. However, Florida has overtaken the best record in the NHL now that Colorado has suffered 4 straight losses entering tonight’s game.
So, I get that folks can have the mindset that the poor run of results has to come to an end because the Avs are such a good hockey team. They certainly have been one of the best teams in the NHL all season but two significant injuries could be to blame for their recent inconsistency. You all should remember I gave out the Oilers against Colorado just a few days ago with a lovely line full of value on Edmonton to come away with the W.
Gabe Landeskog is still out from his knee surgery two weeks ago and he will be down for at least the first series of the playoffs. Now, leading scorer Mikko Rantanen is expected to be out again and his absence over the last 3 games has surely been felt. Hockey is certainly a team sport and the Avs have plenty of depth to find scoring but head coaches need to figure out how to adjust lines when certain players are so used to each other.
Meanwhile, have you seen what the Blues are doing lately? Since March 28th the Blues have played 16 hockey games and you can surely see for yourself that they have only lost 2 games that each went into overtime. That means that the Blues have taken points in every game over the run and they are underdogs? To a struggling Avalanche team that has a pair of big absences towing a 4-game losing skid behind them?
If you haven’t noticed by now, I am a ‘thinkdog’ kind of guy and I seek value with respect to our ROI way before laying heavy favourites. This is another one of those spots to find value in the team that is playing well vs a team that is simply not doing the same at the moment.
With 109 points and trying to lock in the 2 seed for the Western Conference playoffs, the Blues are tied with Minnesota who has what we’ll call a winnable game at home tonight against Arizona favoured at 1.35.
William Hill users have the best price I can find at 2.50 towards a blues win with overtime included, and most sites are featured 2.45 or close to it for the Blues to escape Denver with 2 points. These two teams met early in October when the season was just getting underway and the road team went on to take wins on both occasions. Let’s see if we can’t make it all 3 meetings with an away team taking the victory this season, while also testing Colorado again because of their injuries and poor play of late.
- Selection: Blues to Win – OT Included
- Best odds: 2.50 William Hill
- Stakes 4/10
