NHL Best Bet: Thursday, May 5th
The Colorado Avalanche exploded for 7 goals in game 1 of their playoff series with the Nashville Predators and the line setters have left us some value on the expectations of more goals to come in game 2 on Thursday night in Denver. Our resident NHL expert Ej Garr is imploring that you put your hard-earned cash on the total to go over the number with value still left on the table.

We are in the business of making money and business is good lately! Ej is here to strongly suggest that you look towards the total in Thursday night’s game 2 tilt between the Avs and Preds because goal scoring has been the theme all season long in the NHL.
Scoring has really been the theme for the home team who has scored 172 regular-season goals in this building before driving home 7 more in game 1 on this ice last Tuesday night to open the series So, the line setters don’t plan on moving this total to 7 and we are all going to take advantage of it.
Let’s also get into the Nashville scores we have seen as they ended the regular season scoring in droves and giving up tons of goals themselves so were the game 1 results really a shocker? I am dumbfounded that we can still make a play on this 6.5 with a reasonable line of 1.83 at most sites that carry NHL totals… which is about all of them if they have any reputation to speak of at all!
Slide your little mouse or get on your cell phone and make the call… Over 6.5 Goals Game 2 Colorado vs Nashville because you like your money.
If you recall, I have covered about 4 Avalanche games here at BE and I have been all over their totals this season because they love scoring in this building. This is nothing new either, and it’s why the Avs have home ice throughout the Western Conference playoffs. I can only imagine after seeing Florida lose game 1 that everyone in this locker room would love to see the Panthers bumped early from the Stanley Cup Playoffs. That would mean that the road to the cup would go through Denver and no one needs that! If you recall, Gabe Landeskog had knee surgery just a few weeks ago and we all thought he might miss the opening series of the playoffs but he made it back for game 1 on Monday earlier than expected.
That worked out well for the Avalanche because Gabe scored a goal and assisted on another getting right back in form after missing the end of the regular season.
Mikko Rantanen had 3 helpers in game 1 and he too missed a couple of games as the regular season came to an end. Rantanen led the Avs in goal scoring this season and now that everyone is back and healthy the Avalanche are looking pretty intimidating out of the gate. When you pour 5 goals in the net in the first period I think the odds of winning go up a bit, but just a bit though!
Until we see anyone slow down the Avalanche we can’t just leave a 6.5 total sitting there without our full attention. Nashville knows that they will have to score to keep up with Colorado because stopping them is obviously not going to happen. If you can’t stop them, join them! I hope we see a wide-open game 2 with pucks continuing to tickle the twine so we can cash another ticket.
