The Boston Bruins will be headed to the playoffs and the Buffalo Sabres will be like all of us at home watching the chase for Lord Stanley’s Cup this season. The two teams will meet for the final time this season and our resident NHL expert Ej Garr is pointing all our readers to this total because there is still some value to find on the action.

Boston vs Buffalo Best Bet

April 29, 00:05 UK time

Just after midnight in the UK, the puck will drop in Boston with the Sabres in Bean Town and we have a play on the total to offer despite the marginal 1.83 vig/juice. Depending on your book and the time you get the play in, the line could jump to 1.80 or higher and some bookmakers will be offering the O/U 6 at about even money.

As this article is going in, I see Unibet offering 1.83 on the Over 5.5, and then the offers will vary, of course. Buffalo is taking full advantage of being able to play loose and just skate with no pressure because all of a sudden the Sabres’ offence has become alive. Buffalos have scored 5 goals in their last 3 games and they have scored at least 4 goals in 5 of their last 6 outings.

Now, none of that happened against Boston, however, so it is all relevant and about how Buffalo and Boston will match up tonight. Boston should still be playing loose even with their veterans wanting to get these final 4 points of the regular season. Getting a Buffalo team at this point of the year should have the Bruins fired up to get on the ice and skate with some freedom because they will have space to create opportunities.

The only game in this current 6-game run of offensive firepower the Sabres lost came against the Blues and they put 6 goals in the back of the net. The Sabres and Bruins have met 3 times this season and the Bruins haven’t settled for less than 4 goals in any of those affairs. Their last meeting on New Year’s Day went to Overtime as the Bruins improved to 3 – 0 over Buffalo in the regular season thus far.

One thing the Boston offence does well is put rubber on the pipes as they rank #2 in the NHL averaging 36,3 SPG. By the same token, the Bs rank 3rd in the league holding opponents to only 28,7 SPG and it helps to have David Pastrnak back in the lineup after missing most of April to injury. Pastrnak now has two games back on the ice under his belt as he is simply trying to be in good form with the post-season around the corner.

Pastrnak has scored once since returning to the lineup and you fantasy bettors out there might want to have him on your card tonight. I expect that line of his to go bonkers tonight and lift the Bruins to a win in their final home game of the regular season. I am not bothering people with 1.35 offers on the Moneyline nor puck line offers of multiple goals because that’s not where the money is tonight.

This could easily be a 3 – 2 game and the empty-netter could save our bacon so I am not just going to think Boston will find 7 goals tonight. Or will they? The way Buffalo is playing at the moment, the Bruins better be ready for a team looking to go, go, and go some more so I hope we get a thriller with goals galore to smash this total! I would love to see 3 – 3 going to the third period because that means we have a cashed ticket in our pockets just waiting for the final horn to blow!

  • Selection: Over 5.5 Goals
  • Best odds: 1.83 (Unibet)
