NHL Best Bet: Monday, May 9th
There have been a few big surprises throughout the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs this season and the Washington Capitals having a 2 – 1 series lead over the Panthers is one of those. Florida looks to level their series with the Caps on Monday night but the home-ice advantage has our NHL expert Ej Garr thinking dug and loving the value!

Washington vs Florida Best Bet
April 10, 00:05 (UK time)
The line on the Caps to win game 4 is outstanding at 2.55 and after a big game 3 win, the veteran leadership has the Caps looking to take command of the 7-game series. The oddsmakers are surely not expecting the Panthers to lose consecutive road games while going down 3 – 1 in the opening series of the Eastern Conference playoffs, but that won’t stop Ej from suggesting you think underdog and go for the extreme value.
William Hill and pinnacle are both offering 2.55 on the Caps to shock the hockey world while putting the Panthers on the edge of elimination from the post-season. The team smiling the most right now is the Colorado Avalanche and why is that you ask? Well, should Florida get ousted from the playoffs at any point the Avs will take over home-ice advantage throughout the playoffs?
Colorado is in a rather good shape with a 3 – 0 lead over Nashville to take their opening series of the post-season so everyone in Denver is a Caps fan tonight too. The Avalanche will be playing game 4 in Nashville later tonight to potentially end their series early.
The Great 8 looks just that, and we were all a little concerned about Ovechkin’s status coming into the series after missing the final 3 games of the regular season. Apparently, it was time well served to be prepared to help lift the Caps to a 2 – 1 series win with a big home game on deck tonight. That slapper to make it 4 – 1 in the 3rd period from just inside the point during game 3 left the fans behind the cage smelling burnt rope. That thing was a scorcher of a shot that left the net on fire and the crowd in a frenzy as the Caps just cruised from there.
The Caps home record in the regular season, however, was 15W – 4WO – 6LO – 16L – 131 GF: 129 GA, so maybe they don’t really have much of a home-ice advantage from those numbers. Obviously, Washington basically just held on to the 8 seed in the East as they lost their final 4 games and really didn’t take any good momentum into the playoffs. There was no real pressure because they clinched the post-season so early but it was still a bad way to run out the season. There are so many veteran players in a Caps uniform though that they knew what was coming.
One thing age gives you is the ability to separate the overall importance of when to turn it on and when to just cruise. Washington is now the team cruising with a little momentum from a big win last time out and the fans will likely be in full-throat again as they were for game 3. The O/U for the Let’s Go Caps chant is 70, but I cannot confirm that anywhere but here.
For me, the line at 2.55 and 2.50 at just about every other site out there makes this bet worth the action just out of principle alone. Try to tell me the Caps can’t win and I will gladly point out what just happened the other night here on this ice and the fact that they went into Florida and took a game there too. Which team is actually in command and the underdog? The Caps!
