The New York Rangers gave the two-time defending Stanley Cup champs all they could handle in Game 1 and now the Lightning find themselves down 1 – 0 to open the Eastern Conference finals. Since our resident U.S sports expert, Ej Garr is indeed a Rangers fan he is once again supporting a tip involving the blue shirts with tons of value behind it with odds of nearly 3.00!

NY Rangers vs. Tampa Bay Best Bet

June 4, 01:00 UK time

Game 1 – NY Rangers Team Total Over 2.5 brought us the winning ticket with a plus money offer on the action.

Game 2 – NY Rangers Mika Zibanejad to score a goal is listed at 2.98 if you’re a pinnacle user and there is more value in that than you can shake a hockey stick at!

So, being the Rangers fan that I am I probably don’t need to tell you how much I enjoyed the opening game of the Eastern Conference finals at MSG. What did I say? Decibel level… high!

Yeah, do you think the Rangers fans brought the energy to Madison Square Garden for game 1? I’d say so, and my own throat is a little scratchy still from celebrating 6 damn goals, baby! Against the well-rested, two-time defending Stanley Cup champs with my young team that did so well keeping possession of the puck and getting production from the entire lineup.

The kid line is proving to be among the most difficult shifts to slow down and can I mention that I have 2 full pages of notes that I took throughout the game to have ready for this piece today? I just did, so here we go.

Chris Kreider scored 1:11 into the opening of the game and the energy it brought to the Garden was electric and it only got more intense. It was Kreider’s 33rd post-season goal with the Blue Shirts which leaves him only 1 score away from the Rangers’ all-time lead. Rod Gilbert scored 34 playoff goals for the Rangers and Messier trails them both with 29 tallies in the second season for New York.

Messier only has one or two more Edmonton when he was busy winning a handful of cups with Edmonton… just a few! Anyway, and oh, sorry, but the Great One was great but Mark Messier is God and that will end that debate.

Anyway, the Rangers are the first team in the history of the NHL to reach the conference finals without ever having a series lead in the two previous series. As we know, the Rangers were down to Pittsburgh and won game 7 and they had to win games 6 and 7 against Carolina to get here.

Hey, I took some Tampa Bay notes too so I wouldn’t be so one-sided to you like that. Jon Cooper has accumulated a 78 – 50 post-season record behind the Tampa bench Nikita Kucherov has accumulated 15 points in the post-season for the 6th time which is a team record and I was going to point out some good points for Mr. Vaselevski too.

Over the last 3 years, Vasilevsky has accumulated a 42 – 18 record and he was carrying a 1.96 GAA with a .936 save percentage before game 1 in New York. Those last two numbers obviously came up a spot because of the 6 – 2 Rangers win to open the series but we might expect him to bounce back and be locked in tonight.

We all know that Tampa Bay got here blocking shots and defending like the Dickins and they really didn’t look like that same team on Wednesday night. We heard Mess and Chelios talking during the intermissions about Tampa’s stamina from the 9-day layoff and I spoke about the built-in reasons they could have from being away from the ice for that long. Not playing a competitive game for over a week played a bit of a part in the outcome of the game but the Rangers looked like a hungry, young team ready to win.

Did you see the slap shot from the Ning Captain to ake it 1 – 1 in the first period? My god, momma hides the cookies there! After going to the second period tied at 1, the Rangers’ kid line exploded for 3 goals as Frank Vatrano gave the Rangers a 2 – 1 lead but the Lightning responded as quickly as they did in the opening stanza and it was 2 – 2 in a snap.

Filip Chytil found a brace and Zibanejad splashed in the last goal of the night on a power-play making that the Rangers 6th straight game scoring with the man-advantage. The Rangers are 7 – 0 at home in the Garden which is a franchise record but the line setters seem to think the Lightning will be going home with a win tonight.

I assume the oddsmakers are thinking that now that the layoff is behind them, the Lightning can get back on track with their experience and ability to let things go. That is concerning because I would love to think underdog for my home team Rangers but then I just thought about where there was some big value instead.

Mika Zibanejad to score one goal is showing odds of nearly 3.25 and he just has the ability to be in a spot where he can finish a drive just being in the right place at the right time. Life is all about timing and I hope we timed this tip right and Mika finds the net for us so we can cash a ticket loaded with value.

  • Selection: Mika Zibanejad To Score a Goal
  • Best odds: 3.25 (bet365)
