Champion Hurdle 2025 Preview
The Champion hurdle is always one of the most eagerly awaited race of the entire four days, with top class hurdlers from Britain and Ireland locking horns, and the 2023 renewal sees one of the shortest priced horses of the entire week in Nicky Henderson’s unbeaten Constitution Hill (currently around the 4/11 mark with the bookmakers).
He has been kept fresh after winning the Christmas hurdle at Kempton, and has already proved himself at this track when winning the 2022 Supreme Novice by miles in devastating style.
He faces State Man and Vauban from the all-powerful Willie Mullins team, but it will be a major shock if he does not land a very short price under regular rider Nico de Boinville.
Champion Hurdle Tip 2025
CONSTITUTION HILL (Ante post tip)
Nicky Henderson’s top class hurdler comes into this Champion Hurdle as the shortest priced banker of the entire four days, and his preparation this season has been flawless, barely off the bridle to come home alone in Graded company at Newcastle (Fighting Fifth) and Kempton (Christmas Hurdle).
He now faces the best in Ireland for the first time since winning the Supreme here at the 2022 Festival, but they seem unlikely to trouble him and another armchair ride for Nico de Boinville is surely on the cards.
The main danger could well be Vauban, who shaped nicely behind State Man on his seasonal debut under a negative ride from rear, and could be well served by a patient ride here off what looks likely to be a hotly contested pace up front (makes some appeal in the without the favourite market).

Champion Hurdle Winners
The Champion hurdle has produced some legends of the game, with prolific winners like Istabraq cementing themselves into racing folklore by coming back year after year to land the prestigious prize. Since 1927 when the race began, Nicky Henderson has won the race a remarkable 8 times, and his See You Then joined a select few who won the race three times in 1985 ’86 and ’87. In 2021 the prolific mare Honeysuckle landed the spoils, though it has to be said it was a very substandard renewal on the day, and 2023 promises to be one of the best for many years.
