Both tracks could do with some rain to help field sizes, with the ground currently riding good, good to soft in places at both for declarations. There is a competitive all-weather twilight card at Newcastle, with six handicaps for punters to get stuck into from 4pm.

He has plenty of scope to do a lot better in time (probably over fences sooner rather than later), but should relish this speed track on decent ground
under Alan Johns.
