Today’s Racing Tips – February 19th

The ITV cameras head to three tracks on Saturday, as the countdown to the Cheltenham Festival in March gathers pace. There is Graded action from all three venues, with the Kingwell Hurdle at Wincanton at 3.20pm likely to provide some Champion Hurdle clues (certainly who is the leading British challenger to the imperious Honeysuckle). At Ascot the Grade 1 Betfair Ascot Chase at 3.38pm is sure to attract runners from all the top yards, with the 2m5f trip suitable for those who struggle to see out three miles at this level.

Today’s Daily Nap

Good Risk At All

Ascot 3:00 pm

Sam Thomas’s unexposed handicapper was a very unlucky loser last time out when making a mistake at a crucial stage, and this more galloping track on testing ground should suit him ideally (with plenty more improvement in the tank/cracking chaser in time).

Odds: 3.00

Today’s Value Angle

Fortescue

Ascot 2:25 pm

Henry Daly’s reliable stayer has shaped better than the bare result on a couple of occasions this winter, and has optimum conditions to go very close here.

Odds: 13.0

Odds are best odds available as at 3pm February 18th 2022. Odds may now differ.

Saturday ITV Racing Tips

Time Track Selection Analysis
13:50 ASCOT CORACH RAMBLER Lucinda Russell’s progressive chaser has won two of his four starts over fences, with stamina very much his strong point, and he will appreciate the ground easing at Ascot on Saturday.
14:05 HAYDOCK PARK MOLLY OLLYS WISHES Dan Skelton’s prolific mare has an excellent record in this sort of company, and she seems sure to relish the long Haydock straight (smooth traveller with a turn of foot when the cards fall right).
14:25 ASCOT FORTESCUE Henry Daly’s reliable stayer has shaped better than the bare result on a couple of occasions this winter, and has optimum conditions to go very close here.
14:40 HAYDOCK PARK SAM BROWN Anthony Honeyball’s sluggard goes particularly well in deep ground over an extreme test of stamina, and he seems to be running himself into peak form this winter.
15:00 ASCOT GOOD RISK AT ALL Sam Thomas’s unexposed handicapper was a very unlucky loser last time out when making a mistake at a crucial stage, and this more galloping track on testing ground should suit him ideally (with plenty more improvement in the tank/cracking chaser in time).
15:20 WINCANTON GOSHEN Gary Moore’s classy hurdler finally got his act together this winter when bolting up last time at Sandown, and this track on deep ground should be ideal as he bids to land this valuable Grade 2 prize.
15:35 ASCOT FANION D’ESTRUVAL Venetia Williams has her team in blistering form as the mud flies, and this classy Graded winner should take plenty of beating under these conditions.
