Dan Skelton’s smooth-traveller has won 3 of his 6 career starts over hurdles so far, and starts off into handicaps from a potentially lenient opening mark on the pick of his efforts in graded company (notably when second behind Potters Charm here in November). He is reportedly working very well at home, will appreciate the better spring ground, and his latest Kempton effort over Christmas can be safely ignored (easy to back and soon in a poor position).

Willie Mullins classy mare has won 5 of her 13 career starts over fences so far, and comes into the festival on the back of a cracking effort from the front at Naas in February (just denied on the nod by Dinoblue). She got a poor ride from off the pace when only fourth behind Limerick Lace in the 2024 renewal of this race, and much more positive tactics on better ground should see her go very close.

THE BIG WESTERNER

Henry de Bromhead has a typically strong hand in this punting minefield, and his Limerick winner seems sure to relish a step up to three miles in this stamina sapping Grade 1 contest (pointing background and looked a relentless galloper on Rules debut). He is now unbeaten after three career starts, and should go well if inexperience in this big field is not a negative.

Willie Mullins top class chaser impressed again when landing the odds at the Dublin Racing festival in February, and a positive ride here from Paul Townend can see him retain his title and cement his place in racing folklore. He has scared off most of the viable opposition now, with stablemate Fact to File going for the Ryanair earlier in the week, and is likely to start one of the shortest priced favourites of the week.

Sam Curling’s prolific mare looked to be travelling very strongly when falling two out in the 2024 renewal of this prize, and seems sure to go very close if she can put in a clean round. She will appreciate some better ground, and her gallant win in the 2023 Kim Muir remains fresh in the memory.

Jonjo O’Neill’s unexposed chaser went straight into the notebook for a festival handicap when finishing third behind the impressive The Jukebox Man at Newbury in November, and he has certainly been allotted a lenient looking opening mark. Jumping errors proved costly when he disappointed at Ascot in December, but that trip was far too short for him, and this 3m2f test should be a lot more suitable if he can put in a clean round of fencing.
