Queen Mother Champion Chase 2024 Preview
The Queen Mother Champion Chase is always a fantastic spectacle, with a very fast pace assured as the best two milers in Britain and Ireland take each other on.
This has produced some fantastic renewals over the years, although the current crop are certainly not strong and a small field looks on the cards in 2023.
Last years winner Enurgumene represents the Mullins camp, and easily won this last year after odds-on Shiskin went amiss, and he seems sure to start a well backed favourite to retain his title.
Queen Mother Champion Chase Tip 2024
EDWARDSTONE
Alan King’s high class two-mile chaser suffered a rare reverse when unseating at Kempton in the Grade 2 Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton in December, but he is just the type to put that blip behind him given his overall profile.
He impressed with his attitude when winning the Arkle here in 2022, and his hold-up run style is ideal for this kind of Grade 1 (with plenty of pace on up front and the emphasis likely to be on stamina up the sapping final climb). His main rival looks sure to be the 2022 winner Enurgumene from the all-powerful Willie Mullins yard, but that renewal was especially weak on the day (with favourite Shiskin amiss early on) and our selection makes much more appeal at the current prices (3/1 vs 4/5f).

Queen Mother Champion Chase Winners
There have been some brilliant races over the years in recent memory, with perhaps Tony McCoy winning on Edredon Bleu in 2000 the best in terms of quality and producing a thrilling finish up the hill.
Prolific winners have been commonplace throughout the history of this prestigious Grade 1 dating back to 1959, with Badsworth Boy, Moscow Flyer, Sprinter Sacre and Altior all coming back again and again to defend their title.
