We bring you our Wales vs Poland prediction, team news, lineups and fixtures preview courtesy of Scott Thornton as the teams look to secure a place in the summer’s European Championships.

Prediction: Wales 2-1 Poland

Wales look dangerous as they beat Finland 4-1 to get to this stage. They have been trending upwards in recent matches with the highlight being a home win over Croatia. The Welsh need to find a similar level of performance to get past Poland.

Wales vs Poland Prediction 1: Attack is the Best Form of Defence

European Championship Qualifiers, Tuesday, March 26th, 19:45 (UK)

Both Wales and Poland showcased their attacking prowess in their respective semi-finals. Rob Page’s side netted four goals as they overcame Finland. Fernando Santos’ men scored five as they breezed past 10-man Estonia. This one promises to be a tougher test for both teams with the bookmakers unable to split them on the 1X2 market but we should see plenty of goals once again. We can back both teams to score at best odds with Betfair.

Wales have improved in their recent matches, but they have continued to leak goals. Both teams have scored in their four matches since their 4-0 win over minnows Gibraltar back in October. This bet has also won in their last four competitive matches at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The Polish players were lining up to score against Estonia. They had 25 attempts in the match, 10 of which found the target. Santos’ side enjoyed 85% possession and total domination but still managed to concede on the break. Estonia managed just one shot in the entire match. Wales are likely to have much more joy on the counter-attack.

Wales vs Poland Prediction 2: Memorable Night for Wales

Wales have home advantage for this decisive match. They have qualified for the last two European Championships and they have the chance to make it three in a row on Tuesday night. Rob Page’s side made a nightmare start to their qualifying group with just one win in their first four matches. They have since turned a corner, so the outlook is far brighter here. Therefore, we are backing Wales to come out on top against Poland.

Page’s men are unbeaten in their last seven matches. They have played with greater attacking impetus since the defeat against Turkey in June of last year and have the personnel to trouble the visitors. The crowd at the Cardiff City Stadium will get behind the team to help them get over the line here.

Poland’s only away game under Fernando Santos was a 2-0 win over the Faroe Islands. They had lost their three away matches before that game. In their qualifying group matches on the road, Poland conceded an average of two goals per game and scored just 1.25.

  • Wales vs Poland Prediction 1: Wales To Win
  • Best Odds: 2.75

Wales vs Poland Prediction 3: Goal Odds Seem Generous

The last of our bets for this match is for Wales to score in both halves of the match. They carry momentum into this match after the emphatic win over Finland. Home advantage should give them the confidence to start the game on the front foot in the same way they did in the last match. David Brooks opened the scoring after just three minutes in that victory. Page’s side scored two goals in both halves and the front three of Johnson, Wilson and Brooks looked deadly.

Wales are averaging 1.13 goals in the first half of their seven home matches since the start of 2023. They have also scored a first-half goal in their last three matches overall. Should the home side take the lead, they have the pace to do further damage as Poland commits bodies forward so the odds of 5.00 for Wales to score in both halves look a little long.

  • Best Odds: 5.00

  • Stake: 4/10

Wales vs Poland Team News and Possible Lineups: If It Isn’t Broke, Don’t Fix It

Robert Page will be delighted with the way his team played against Finland so it’s unlikely he will make changes to his starting eleven here. Aaron Ramsey was on the bench for that game after recovering from an injury. The midfielder has been a key player for his country throughout a golden era of Welsh football but changing a winning formula could upset the apple cart.

Fernando Santos finds himself in a similar position to his opposite number. He will likely name an unchanged side as Poland aims to avoid missing out on their first European Championships since 2004.

Wales possible starting lineup: Ward; Mepham, Rodon, Davies; Roberts, James, Ampadu, Williams; Brooks, Wilson, Johnson

Poland possible starting lineup: Szczesny; Bednarek, Dawidowicx, Kiwior; Frankowski, Zielinski, Slisz, Piotrowsku, Zalewski; Swiderski, Lewandowski

Match Stats: Both Sides in Good Form

  • Wales were beaten 1-0 the last time they faced Poland in Cardiff.
  • Page’s side have suffered just two defeats in 11 matches since the World Cup.
  • Fernando Santos is yet to taste defeat as Poland boss. He has taken charge of five matches.
  • Poland have won just four of their last 10 away matches.
