Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian striker who was heavily linked with top clubs like Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window, has made a surprise move to Galatasaray. While many expected him to stay at Napoli under Antonio Conte, Osimhen chose to explore options where the transfer window was still open, eventually settling on the Turkish giants. A New Chapter in Turkey

Osimhen, who boasts 35 international caps for Nigeria, had offers from Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli and Turkey’s Galatasaray. Despite interest from the Middle East, the 25-year-old opted for a move to Istanbul. Upon landing, he was greeted by a throng of enthusiastic Galatasaray supporters at the airport, a testament to the excitement surrounding his arrival.

Medical Tests and Contract Details

The striker is now set to undergo medical tests before finalizing his loan deal with Galatasaray, which will keep him at the club until June 30, 2025. The deal includes an option for an earlier departure if a significant offer comes in from another major club. Additionally, Osimhen successfully negotiated a reduction in his Napoli release clause, dropping it from €130 million to €75 million.

Osimhen’s Recent Form

Osimhen’s performances for Napoli have been impressive, particularly during the 2022/2023 season when he played 32 matches, scoring 17 goals and providing 4 assists. His contributions were crucial in Napoli securing the Serie A title. Now, Galatasaray fans are eager to see him bring that same form to Turkey as he joins the Lions on this exciting new venture.
