Gianluca Di Marzio provides updates on Osimhen, Toney, Ugarte and Khvaratskelia
With the transfer window closing the night of the 2nd September, we talked to the renowned transfer journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Italian shared updates on Victor Osimhen, Manuel Ugarte, Ivan Toney and Khvicha Khvaratskelia.
Osimhen in negotiations with a Saudi Arabian club
Osimhen has been on the radar of various top clubs for a long time, but the Nigerian striker has a concrete offer from a Saudi Arabian club, however he is waiting for something to happen in the European market to get his dream move.
In Europe, PSG, Chelsea and Arsenal right now seem as the most likely destinations.
“I think at this moment, the only concrete negotiation is with Saudi Arabia. There is concrete interest from Saudi Arabia for him but obviously, Victor and his agent would like to wait till Friday midnight because something can happen in the European market. PSG or Chelsea or Arsenal can submit a lower offer to Naples”, says Gianluca Di Marzio to bettingexpert before he continues:
“They would like to wait because the Arabian market is open after Friday so they have time to decide if they want to go or not. At this moment, the concrete interest is from Saudi Arabia. Napoli received an offer from Al-Ahli of €70 million and they are keen to accept. Now it is up to Osimhen, whether to accept or not.
“If I have to think about a possibility, I think PSG as they did with Inter Milan a year and a half ago for Skriniar, they arrived on the last day of the market with an offer for him – ‘yes or no?’ – and Inter said no, and Skriniar arrived at PSG at the end of his contract.”
“So it is possible that all of these clubs are waiting for the last days to submit a low offer to Napoli and understand if they say yes or no. At this moment, the only concrete interest is from Saudi Arabia.”
Manuel Ugarte will probably join Man United
The Uruguayan midfielder Ugarte has been linked to Manchester United the whole summer, and Di Mazrio says that he probably will join Man United, however it also depends on Scott McTominay who is on his way to Napoli.
“I think that Manuel Ugarte will go to Man Utd because he always wanted United. He agreed personal terms for a lot of days and I think that he will go to United. Man Utd are talking to Napoli to agree the final details of McTominay.”
“The way is McTominay out and Ugarte in. The three clubs, PSG, Man Utd and Napoli are trying to do this linked deal. To get this deal done, McTominay has to solve his problems with United by agreeing exit terms.
If he agrees to the exit terms, Napoli are ready to get him because they have already agreed a deal with United for about €30.5 million. If McTominay goes to Napoli, then Ugarte will be his replacement in Manchester.”
Ivan Toney could go to Saudi Arabia
Ivan Toney´s situation is very much similar to Victor Osimhen´s as he has an offer from Saudi Arabia, but just like the Nigerian, the English striker is waiting for something to happen in the European market.
“I think it’s the same situation for Toney and Osimhen. When you know the Saudi Arabian market is open after the European market, obviously players like Toney and Osimhen, they wait. Because everything can happen in the last two or three days – an injury, a departure, or if some important club loses a match and they need a striker.”
“It also depends on Saudi Arabian clubs if they decide to wait or if they’re in a hurry to have a striker in their team. To convince players like Toney and Osimhen, they can wait.”
“For Toney it’s difficult to say he’s going to Saudi Arabia or a top Premier League side. Saudi Arabia, they hope to have him and Osimhen at the end of their market.”
Khvicha Khvaratskelia will stay at Napoli
The Georgian star Khvicha Khvaratskelia has been linked to Liverpool for a long time, but according to Di Marzio he will stay at Napoli who earlier in the transfer window refused a huge offer from PSG.
“Kvaratskhelia will stay at Napoli for sure. Napoli refused €200 million from PSG at the beginning of the market. The offer was for him and Osimhen together and Napoli said no because their chairman, de Laurentiis, promised to Antonio Conte when he signed a new contract, that Kvaratskhelia and Di Lorenzo will stay and the Napoli chairman doesn’t want to sell him after promising to the coach that he will stay.”
“So I think he will renew his contract. His agent is in Napoli and I think there are no possibilities of Kvara joining Liverpool. The only real club that pushed for him was PSG. They wanted him as Mbappe’s replacement, He was first on the list. There was no way to start negotiations with Napoli and from that moment, the relationship between PSG and Napoli became a bit tough. So that’s why PSG did not come back for Osimhen yet.”
