Tom Winch is here with a Valencia vs Getafe prediction, team news, lineups and fixtures preview. The pair meet on Saturday afternoon in La Liga.

The home side have picked up a number of good results at this venue. Getafe have struggled away from home. It’s an encounter that doesn’t appear to be the most exciting on paper. As always, we’ve selected three of our favourite selections.

Our Valencia vs Getafe prediction is for Valencia to win the match 1-0.

The bettingexpert Football Podcast is out NOW!

After a full house last week, bettingexpert Football Editor, Sam Ingram, joins host Daniel Jenkins for another couple of tips for this weekend’s action. The boys pick apart the Manchester Derby and discuss the gloom amongst the doom at Torquay United.

The tips look at all three Premier League title contender’s chances on the weekend either side of a surprise quiz that may cost Sam his reputation as a tipster…

Valencia vs Getafe Tip 1: Attacking Unavailability Should Lead To Fewer Goals

Spain, La Liga, Saturday, March 9th, 13:00 (UK)

If Getafe had their full attacking lineup available, I would perhaps be more uncertain about betting against goals. However, with Mayoral (15) and Greenwood (6) absent, they have limited attacking quality and lack a goal threat. Only Jude Bellingham has scored more than Mayoral in 23/24.

I anticipate that Getafe will come here with little intention of pushing forward. Sevilla played here a couple of weeks ago, and it was a painful watch, but it worked. They had a single shot, which arrived in injury time as the game ended goalless.

Goals are typically few and far between at Estádio de Mestalla. Valencia has scored 17 and conceded eight in 13 matches here, averaging 1.92 goals per game. Ruben Baraja’s men have kept seven clean sheets here. Los Ches are fantastic at keeping their opponents quiet. I expect Getafe to have a limited number of chances on Saturday afternoon.

Six matches at this venue have seen one goal or fewer. The home side have poor attacking numbers and are up there with the worst in the division. Just Las Palmas and Cadiz have a lower xG number and average fewer shots on target.

The reverse fixture ended 1-0, with just 11 shots attempted that day. Four of the previous five encounters have ended with one or zero goals.

  • Valencia vs Getafe Tip 1: Under 2.0 Goals (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.87
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 3/10

Valencia vs Getafe Tip 2: A Close Fought Battle

Valencia (7-4-2 WDL) is strong when playing at home. Los Ches haven’t tasted defeat here since September. Valencia have hosted Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bilbao within their last six matches at Estadio de Mestalla. Baraja’s side collected five points from those encounters.

This clash will be far from a standout affair. But if there were to be a winner, I would lean towards the home side.

Getafe (1-6-7 WDL) aren’t formidable travellers. Their only away win came against Sevilla. Two of their three goals that day were from the penalty spot.

Backing the home side appears to be the sensible route. They have most of their squad fit and available. It’s an appealing price. Defensively, they’re compact and consistent. Hugo Duro and Roman Yaremchuk have performed well together in recent outings.

Valencia have scored in ten of their 13 La Liga matches at home. Only two of 14 sides have failed to score when hosting Geta Azulones. A single goal may be enough to claim all three points. Three of Valencia’s seven wins have ended 1-0.

  • Valencia vs Getafe Tip 2: Valencia -0.5 Asian Handicap (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 2.02
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 4/10

Valencia vs Getafe Tip 3: Roman’s Back In Business

Roman Yaremchuk has failed to be prolific in front of goal for a few years. The Ukrainian was excellent in Belgium when he represented Gent. Roman had underwhelming spells at Benfica and Club Brugge before heading to Spain. The 28-year-old has made 18 appearances in 23/24 for Valencia. He’s started seven of those, which includes the previous three.

Valencia will start with a 4-4-2 formation. Roman Yaremchuk and Hugo Duro will lead the line. Duro is the leading scorer by some distance, with 11. Yaremchuk has found the back of the net three times. The number 17 has scored in two of his three previous matches at this venue. Roman recorded 0.78xG in the 0-0 draw with Sevilla. I like his chances here, especially with the price available.

Yaremchuk has managed nine shots on target this season. That equates to 1.30 per 90. RY17 scored in three of his four La Liga starts in 2024. I hope he improves on that tally.

Getafe have conceded 28 times in their 14 away days. Bordalas’ side have managed just two clean sheets. The visitors will come here to frustrate, but I struggle to see how they avoid keeping the home side out.

  • Valencia vs Getafe Tip 3: Roman Yaremchuk AGS (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 4.33
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 2/10

Valencia vs Getafe Team News and Possible Lineups: Getafe Without Their Talisman, Valencia’s Duo Good To Go.

Valencia will be without Mouctar Diakhaby for this encounter. The Frenchman suffered a horrendous injury in the 2-2 draw with Real Madrid over the weekend.

Ruben Baraja will have the rest of his squad available for this clash. Hugo Duro and Roman Yaremchuk scored in their clash with the league leaders. The duo will most likely start once again.

Getafe have two key players absent. Borja Mayoral will be on the sidelines for a lengthy period. Their talisman suffered a meniscus injury in Getafe’s 3-3 draw with Las Palmas over the weekend, a huge miss.

Mason Greenwood will be unavailable for this one after picking up another yellow card on Saturday.

Valencia possible starting lineup:Mamardashvili; Foulquier, Mosquera, Ozkacar, Gaya, Perez, Pepelu, Guerra, Canos, Yaremchuk; Duro

Getafe possible starting lineup:Soria; Carmona, Alvarez, Alderete, Djene, Rico, Maksimovic, Milla, Moriba, Mata; Latasa
