Transfer Odds Betting Blog: How the Jack Grealish Man City Transfer Affects Citizens, Aston Villa
August 6th: How Jack Grealish’s Man City Transfer Affects Harry Kane Deal, Aston Villa
Jack Grealish completed his long-awaited move from Aston Villa to Manchester City on Monday. The 25-year-old signed a six-year contract after his £100 million release clause was triggered.
It had been expected for some time but the Grealish deal will undoubtedly affect the market. It gives Aston Villa the funds to spend big and Manchester City a chance to examine other targets.
Tottenham’s Harry Kane is City’s number 1 target. The England captain has yet to return to pre-season training which led to Skybet suspending the market on his summer transfer. That market still hasn’t opened but other bookies have odds between 1.73 and 2.10 to complete his move to City this summer. It’s between 1.91 and 2.30 for Kane to remain at Tottenham.
There is plenty of work still to do for City but it gives Aston Villa a chance to splash the cash. They’ve already signed Emi Buendia, Leon Bailey and Danny Ings this window but could add more in the coming weeks.
Here are some of their likeliest summer transfers now that Grealish has departed.
August 2nd: Harry Kane Fails to Report for Tottenham Pre-Season Training
Skybet have suspended betting on Harry Kane next club odds market after the striker failed to report for pre-season training.
It looks as if it will be the story of the summer. England captain and Spurs forward Harry Kane looks eager to leave the North London club amid interest from Manchester City. The Premier League champions are eager to add to their forward line following the departure of Sergio Aguero to FC Barcelona.
Kane said before the European Championships that he was eager to leave Spurs. City had a public bid for the player rejected but their interest hasn’t wavered.
Things cooled during the European Championships as Kane helped England to their first major tournament final since 1966. He was given an extended break but was due to report back for pre-season training today.
Kane failed to show up at Tottenham’s training complex which has thrown his future into serious doubt. The odds of him swapping North London for the Etihad this year were already short. City have been odds-on favourites to sign Kane this year for most of the last few weeks. But this news has shocked the transfer betting market and Skybet has suspended the market.

July 22nd: Arsenal Favourites for Tammy Abraham Transfer Ahead of Spurs and Aston Villa
Arsenal have emerged as the favourites to sign Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham ahead of a host of other sides.
The Gunners are eager to add to their attacking options. The contracts of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are set to expire in the next two years. Youngster Eddie Nketiah looks likely to leave the club this summer.
That makes Tammy Abraham an attractive option. The 23-year-old bagged 15 Premier League goals for the Blues in the season before last. Abraham saw his game time limited after the arrival of Timo Werner in 2020. He wasn’t in Chelsea’s squad for the Champions League final several months ago and looks set to leave the club this summer.
The Gunners would face competition for his signing. Abraham has been a target for multiple sides across Europe. Aston Villa and West Ham were amongst the favourites and the odds fell on a move to Borussia Dortmund.
But Arsenal are the new favourites to sign Abraham this summer window. The odds were as high as 19.00 a little over a month ago. The Gunners are now the 2.10 favourites to sign the man who has one goal in six appearances for England.
July 22nd: Man Utd Have a 95% Chance of Completing Raphael Varane Transfer According to Odds
Manchester United now have a 95% chance of completing the transfer of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid this summer according to the odds.
It seemed unlikely for a long time. Raphael Varane is a key player for Real Madrid and the France national team. He’s 28 years old and is the senior member of Real’s back four after the departure of Sergio Ramos. The reports linking Varane with a move to Manchester United felt similar to stories of Ramos’ proposed move to Old Trafford.
But Varane’s move to Old Trafford is now looking increasingly likely. The clubs are close to agreeing on a deal and personal terms are not believed to be an issue. Varane looks set to double his current salary by moving to Old Trafford according to reports.
The odds of Varane joining United have shifted dramatically. Back on June 17th, the 28-year-old was 4.00 to join United this summer. Varane is now 1.05 to complete his move to Old Trafford this window. That’s an implied probability of over 95%.
July 16th: Citizens Expect to Sell Players Ahead of £215 Million Kane & Grealish Man City Transfer
Manchester City expect to sell players to raise the funds to finance deals to sign Harry Kane and Jack Grealish.
It’s common for title-winning sides to improve in the off-season but City are a little short in some areas. Pep Guardiola’s men played much of the season without a recognised striker and the departure of Sergio Aguero leaves them short.
Harry Kane is reportedly their number one target to replace Aguero up front. City have already had one offer for the player rejected by Tottenham but they’re the favourites to get it done.
City are also lacking a little creativity and Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish is a long-term target. Man City are the big favourites to sign Grealish of the clubs linked with him.
Both transfers would be expensive. Kane and Grealish are both on long-term contracts and Tottenham, in particular, don’t want to sell. There was an expectation that it would be a case of one or the other for City but that may not be the case.
The Athletic reports that City want to sign both players and are willing to sell to make up the cost. City estimate the cost of the two deals between £175 million and £215 million. They’ve already sold a couple of squad players but are looking to sell more first-teamers.
Bernardo Silva will reportedly go if the right offer arrives and both Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling are on the market. Gabriel Jesus is a reported Juventus target and could head to Italy on an initial loan with an obligation to buy.
Aymeric Laporte and Benjamin Mendy could also leave the Etihad this summer should offers arrive. Both players would need replacements but City are hoping to raise the funds from the transactions.
Kane and Grealish are on holiday after finishing their international duty with the England national team. There are expectations that things will accelerate once they return.
Right now, the bookies don’t expect them to complete either deal this summer. Both players have shorter odds to stay at their current clubs than join City this window. Stay close by for the latest Manchester City transfer news in case anything changes.
July 15th: Lewandowski’s Agent “Trying To Make Move” To Chelsea or Manchester City Happen
The agent of Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski is trying to engineer a big transfer this summer.
He’s one of the best strikers on the planet and has been for the last decade. Robert Lewandowski bagged 41 goals in 29 Bundesliga matches for Bayern Munich.
It was his best season to date after what has been an excellent season in Bavaria. Lewandoski who turns 33 in August has won 17 major trophies including the Champions League since his 2014 move from Borussia Dortmund.
But it now looks as if he is searching for a fresh challenge after seven hugely successful seasons at the Allianz. Reports in Germany suggest that the player’s agent is actively looking for a new club for his client.
“The player has been thinking about a move,” Sky in Germany’s Marc Behrenbeck said of Lewandowski.
“The most important reason is that he thinks his story is finished here in Munich having won all there is to win here.
“He feels a move abroad to another league, maybe the Premier League or Spain, would be the next step. But we also know that Bayern won’t want to let him go. I don’t really see him leaving.
“Lewandowski has dreamt of a move to Real Madrid – this has always been his big dream – but on the other hand, we do know of interest from Chelsea and Manchester City.
“His agent Pini Zahavi has spoken to all the big clubs in the Premier League but Bayern know they have perhaps the world’s best striker so they need him and will not let him go.
“He’s a special player but he knows he’s not getting any younger. He’s 32 and has a contract for another two years, and this would be the last chance to complete a big move to another club. This is why he’s trying, together with his agent, to make a move happen.”
New Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann spoke about the reported interest in his player earlier this week.
“The rumours about Robert Lewandowski have been around for ages, I think since he joined Bayern Munich,” Nagelsmann told Sky Germany.
“I think it’s normal for someone who scores so many goals that almost every club puts out a feeler.”
But Manchester City aren’t alone in their pursuit of Robert Lewandowski. Chelsea and Real Madrid are also amongst the favourites with the bookies. Stay close for the latest Manchester City transfer news as they search for a striker.
July 15th: Odds Fall On Tammy Abraham To Dortmund Transfer After Reports of Chelsea Swap for Erling Haaland
Odds of Tammy Abraham joining Borussia Dortmund have fallen after reports he could be used in a deal for Erling Haaland.
Borussia Dortmund have one of the most valuable players on the planet in Erling Haaland. The 20-year-old scored 41 goals in 41 matches for Dortmund last season including 10 in 8 Champions League games.
Every club on the planet would take the Norwegian international which gives Dortmund some sway.
Chelsea are the current favourites with the bookies to sign Haaland. They are just 1.91 to get the deal over the line this summer and they may have a solution.
Reports in England suggest that the Blues would be willing to let striker Tammy Abraham move in the opposite direction as part of the transfer. Abraham scored 15 Premier League goals in the 2019-20 season but saw his playing time reduced last campaign following the arrival of Timo Werner.
He’s been the subject of interest from Aston Villa and West Ham but these reports have affected the markets. The odds of Abraham moving to Dortmund this summer have fallen from 19.00 yesterday to 13.00 today. Those are the latest Skybet transfer odds.
Things will change so stay tuned for the latest Chelsea transfer news and odds.
July 14th: Tottenham Transfer News – Danny Ings Spurs Transfer Odds Drop
The odds of a Danny Ings Tottenham transfer have dropped heavily after reports that the Southampton man is the main target for Spurs.
Danny Ings looks to be one of the big transfer targets in the Premier League this summer. The 28-year-old forward has scored 41 goals in 91 Premier League matches since joining Southampton in 2018.
Ings’ contract at St. Mary’s will expire next year. He’s reportedly refused a new deal and looks set for a summer exit.
Many of the top clubs in the Premier League are keen on the former Liverpool man but it looks as if Tottenham are at the front of the queue.
Reports emerged this morning that Ings is Spurs’ top transfer target for the summer. The Danny Ings Tottenham transfer odds dropped dramatically as a result of the news.
Manchester City were once the favourites to sign Ings but it looks as if that has changed. Spurs’ odds have fallen from 5.00 to 2.50 as of 14th July 2021. Don’t be surprised if Ings heads to North London this summer. That is the latest Tottenham Transfer News.
July 14th: Manchester United Transfer News – Favourites “Can’t Afford” to Sign United Man
West Ham United could be priced out of a deal to sign Jesse Lingard despite being the favourites to sign the midfielder.
Jesse Lingard’s time at Old Trafford may be coming to an end despite his outstanding loan spell at West Ham last season.
The 28-year-old scored nine goals in 16 Premier League matches for the Hammers. There were strong rumours of a permanent return to the London Stadium but so far nothing has changed.
Now, it looks as if the Hammers may be priced out of a deal. The Athletic report that United want £30 million to conclude a transfer for Jesse Lingard.
The Hammers cannot afford that deal for a player entering the final year of his contract. United have a choice of offering the player a new deal or selling Lingard now to avoid losing him for free next summer.
July 13th: PSG In Talks but Raphael Varane to Man Utd Odds Fall
Real Madrid have given Manchester United permission to negotiate personal terms with Raphael Varane ahead of a proposed move.
The French international centre-back has been at the Santiago Bernabeu since 2011 but his time in Spain looks to be coming to an end. Varane reportedly wants a new challenge after 360 appearances for Los Blancos.
Varane has been a Manchester United transfer target throughout the summer but things have accelerated today. The Red Devils have reportedly been given permission to negotiate a contract with the player ahead of a proposed move.
But United will have to move fast. Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be in talks with the player ahead of a move to France.
PSG have already signed one centre-back from Real Madrid this summer. Sergio Ramos joined on a free transfer earlier this month but United will hope he is the last to swap Madrid for Paris.

July 13th: Explain the Drop – Why the Saul Niguez Liverpool Transfer Odds Are Falling
The odds of Saul Niguez transferring to Liverpool this window have fallen dramatically in the last 24 hours.
The Atletico Madrid man has been a staple for Diego Simeone’s side for the last seven seasons. He made 33 appearances in their title-winning season last year, scoring twice in La Liga.
Liverpool are in the market for a new midfielder after the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum to Paris Saint-Germain. Saul has reportedly been a Liverpool transfer target for some time but still has five years left on the mammoth nine-year contract he signed in 2017.
But things have stepped up in the last few days. On Monday, reports emerged in Spain that Liverpool had made a €40 offer for the 26-year-old. That was rejected by Atletico who want at least €50 million, according to the Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.
It’s a realistic deal, especially after Atletico concluded the transfer of the Argentinean midfielder Rodrigo De Paul this week.
Reds fans seem to agree. No odds were available on a Liverpool transfer before this weekend but they are now the 1.91 favourites to sign the player. Several English sides have odds available to sign the player, as have FC Barcelona who are at 7.00. But Liverpool are the big favourites to sign Saul after that reported offer on Monday.
That explains the drop.
July 12th: Harry Kane Transfer Odds – Spurs Want £200 Million For England Euro 2021 Star
Reports suggest that Tottenham Hotspur will demand up to £200 million from clubs wanting to sign star striker Harry Kane.
It would surely be the biggest transfer of the window if it went through but Manchester City will have to spend big to sign Spurs’ Harry Kane.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is said to want as much as £200 million for Kane who asked to leave the club earlier in the summer.
Kane has been at Tottenham since he was 11. He’s scored 166 Premier League goals for them including 23 last season.
A summer transfer has been a possibility for some time. The 2008 League Cup is the only major trophy Spurs have won in the last 30 years.
Plenty of teams are linked but the Manchester clubs emerged as early favourites to sign Kane. United were 2.63 to sign the player back in mid-May but City soon became the frontrunners.
City had a £100 million bid for the player rejected by Tottenham. The odds dropped to 1.91 for City to sign the player and 2.38 for him to still be at Spurs on September 3rd.
But things have changed. The news that Spurs could want as much as £200 million for Kane has affected the odds. The odds are now level for Kane to join City and for him to remain at Tottenham for another window.
Things may accelerate now that Euro 2021 has concluded. Kane was England’s top scorer during the tournament with four goals that helped them to the final. Stay close for the latest Tottenham transfer odds.
July 12th: Explain the Drop – Why the James Maddison Arsenal Transfer Odds Have Shortened
James Maddison’s odds of a transfer to Arsenal have dropped over the weekend. Here we explain why.
It’s a story that seems to have come out of nowhere in recent weeks. Go back a few weeks and there was very little suggestion that James Maddison would leave the King Power Stadium this summer.
Maddison has been a key player for Leicester City since his 2018 move from Norwich City. he bagged eight goals in 31 Premier League appearances for the Foxes last season.
Reports emerged on social media that James Maddison is Arsenal’s big transfer target for this window. An anonymous account, known as the AFCBell first reported Arsenal’s interest several weeks ago but updated with more information over the weekend.
The account has successfully predicted multiple Arsenal transfers in recent years and some trust the information. The 4.50 odds before the weekend shortened significantly which suggests that many punters trusted the information and saw enough value. The Gunners are now the major favourites to sign the Leicester man with rival clubs well out in the odds.
That explains the drop.

Transfer odds Summer 2021
- 2021 Summer Transfer Period start date: June 9th 2021
- 2021 Summer Transfer Period close date: August 31st 2021
Our transfer odds blog will focus on the 2021 summer transfer window. This is the window of time that top clubs have to sign players to their team for the upcoming season and beyond.
Different countries and leagues will often have different rules. That is not the case this year. Clubs from the Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1 have the same deadline.
The window is open now for all clubs from the above leagues. They have until 11 pm BST on August 31st 2021 to agree on deals in principle but some deals can take longer to finalise. Bookmakers know this and allow a few extra days for deals to get over the line.
What are transfer bets?
Transfer bets are simple to follow. The punter is essentially backing whether a certain player joins a certain club by a defined date. Bookmakers often allow transfer bets by the end of the current window. In this case, punters would be backing whether a player joins a club during this summer transfer window.
Here’s an example. Say you want to bet £10 on Harry Kane joining Manchester City from Tottenham during this transfer window at odds of 2.00. If he does join City during this summer window, the bet will return £20 plus the original stake.
If he joins another club or stays at his current club then the bet will lose. The bet will also lose even if Kane joins Manchester City during the next transfer window. It’s about backing where the player will be at the end of the transfer window.
Many popular bookmakers now provide transfer odds. We will look closest at Skybet for their sheer range of transfer betting odds.
