Sevilla vs Barcelona Prediction: Team News and Lineups Preview
There’s an intriguing La Liga clash on Sunday and our expert Nathan Joyes has provided his Sevilla vs Barcelona Best Bet, team news, lineups and fixtures preview.
The hosts head into this encounter unbeaten in their last four matches, and five at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Slowly making their way up the table, Garcia Pimienta’s resilient side have conceded just three from their last five home games – but haven’t beaten Barcelona since 2021 in front of their fans.
Barcelona edged past Alaves to close the gap to four points as Real Madrid suffered a 1-0 defeat to Espanyol. It wasn’t quite the goalfest fans were expecting, but Robert Lewandowski once again came to the rescue to keep his team in the title race.
Sevilla vs Barcelona Prediction: Hard to look beyond forward
Spain, La Liga, Sunday, February 9th, 20:00 (UK)
Aside from Lamine Yamal’s twinkle toes there wasn’t a lot to get excited about when it came to Barcelona’s performance against Alaves. Goals were anticipated, but three points were all that mattered come the final whistle.
The sole goalscorer was once again Robert Lewandowski, who netted his 18th goal in just 21 La Liga appearances – three more than Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe. Impressive at the age of 36.
Prior to Barcelona’s midweek Copa del Rey clash with Valencia, the Polish international has scored four goals in his last five matches, which included a brace against Benfica in that emphatic 5-4 victory in Portugal. Whether home or away, Lewandowski is one of the main reasons for their success this season.
And he has plenty of positive history against Sevilla. Not only did the 36-year-old score a brace in the reverse fixture (5-1), Lewandowski scored in this fixture last campaign when Barcelona ran out 2-1 winners, as well as in their own backyard in 2022. That’s four goals for the Polish captain in his last five attempts against Sevilla. Not bad at all.
You can spin Sevilla’s recent home form either way. Unbeaten in five, conceding just three goals all sounds rather promising. Or, just two clean sheets against Celta Vigo and Rayo Vallecano and two wins paints a different story.
It’s true that only Athletic Bilbao, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have conceded less in front of their own supporters, but Sevilla have yet to face anyone currently in the top five at home this season.
Loic Bade has been the reason for their success in his centre-back role, but his partner Nemanja Gudelj will be the one Barcelona will look to target. Although strong in the air and well disciplined, the 33-year-old isn’t the most agile, and the visitors will look to catch him out where possible – and free up room for their leading goalscorer.
It may look an obvious bet, but both Barcelona and goals are an incredibly short price, and if either of those outcomes happen, it’s likely Lewandowski will once again be on the scoresheet against Sevilla.

Sevilla vs Barcelona Injuries, Team News and Possible Lineups
Sevilla head into this fixture with a fully fit squad to choose from. Only Valentin Barco moved during the transfer window, who was recalled by Brighton before being shipped out on loan to French outfit Strasbourg.
Forward Isaac Romero returned from suspension to lead the line against Getafe, who once again found himself in the book. With six yellow cards to his name from 18 matches, the 24-year-old could be one to keep an eye on.
Barcelona have their midweek trip to Valencia to focus on first, and any injuries picked up will have to be considered. Dani Olmo, who was injured against Getafe last month, is still a number of weeks from returning to the squad.
Sevilla possible starting lineup:
Nyland; Pedrosa, Gudelj, Bade, Carmona, Niguez, Lokonga, Sow, Vargas, Lukebakio, Romero
Barcelona possible starting lineup:
Pena; Balde, Cubarsi, Araujo, Kounde, Pedri, Casado, Raphinha, Gavi, Yamal, Lewandowski
