Serie A Best Bets: Sunday April 3rd
The return of Serie A will be warmly welcomed by all Italian football fans after the National team embarrassingly failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup during the international break. Sunday’s line-up of box office fixtures featuring teams at the top of the table should be enough to momentarily forget the events of last week, and I’ve got best bets for three of those matches.
Serie A Best Bets: Sunday April 3rd
- Fiorentina vs Empoli: Under 2.75 goals (2.10)
- Atalanta vs Napoli: Napoli +0 Asian Handicap (2.10)
- Sampdoria vs Roma: Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals (2.30)
Serie A Treble odds: 10.14

Fiorentina vs Empoli Best Bet
Sunday, April 3rd, 11:30 (UK Time)
Il Derby dell’Arno kicks off Sunday’s Serie A action. Empoli will be hoping the cliche of form going out the window heading into a derby applies to them this weekend. Aurelio Andreazzoli’s men are still without a win in 2022 and are in danger of potentially being dragged into a scrap at the wrong end of the table.
Despite being goal crazy at home, Empoli matches away from the Stadio Carlo Castellani have been quite the opposite. Seven of their last eight away games have seen under 2.5 goals, which has become a profitable angle when betting on Empoli fixtures away from home.
Recent Fiorentina matches have been similarly goal-shy. Since the departure of Dusan Vlahovic to Juventus, Fiorentina have scored two or more goals on just one occasion in Serie A, compared to 11 times previously with him in the side. Given that the men from Florence have been fairly strong defensively in recent weeks, only three of their last eight fixtures have featured over 2.5 goals.
At the Stadio Artemio Franchi, Vincenzo Italiano’s side has been at their most solid, conceding one goal in their last three matches. They shouldn’t struggle to keep quiet an Empoli side who have netted just once in their last five away games.
I’m confident of another low-scoring game in Florence. The under 2.75 goals in the Asian goal line market offers that extra security if Fiorentina manage to find their goalscoring boots on Sunday.
- Selection: Under 2.75 goals
- Best Odds: 2.15 (10Bet)
- Stakes: 7/10
More Fiorentina vs Empoli Tips
Atalanta vs Napoli Best Bet
Sunday, April 3rd, 14:00 (UK Time)
Atalanta appear to have thrown away any chance of a top-four finish in Serie A following a run of just three wins in their 10 league fixtures since the turn of the year. Gian Paolo Gasperini’s job hasn’t been helped by the loss of key players throughout 2022, including top scorer Duvan Zapata.
However, in truth, the main reason for Atalanta’s disappointing showing this campaign has been their home form. ‘La Dea’ have only won four Serie A games at the Gewiss Stadium, with three of those victories coming against teams currently positioned in the bottom six of Italy’s top flight.
The task of improving this home record doesn’t get any easier this weekend with title-chasing Napoli the visitors to Bergamo. Luciano Spaletti’s men have won 10 of their 15 away matches domestically, losing on just the one occasion to Inter back in November.
Napoli boast the best defensive record away from home in Serie A, whilst at the other end of the field, they have scored in all but one of their away fixtures this season. The ‘Azzurri’ will be confident of finding the net again on Sunday, especially given that Atalanta have conceded two or more goals on six occasions at home.
Despite all of the above, Atalanta are considered the favourites to grab three points this weekend. I disagree with the bookies and personally think they are massively underrating Napoli. With the hosts also playing an important Europa League quarter-final on Thursday, the 2.28 for Napoli with a +0 handicap on the Asian lines is too good to turn down.
- Selection: Napoli +0 (AH)
- Best Odds: 2.25 (Unibet)
- Stakes: 8/10
Sampdoria vs Roma Best Bet
Sunday, April 3rd, 17:00 (UK Time)
Sampdoria fans breathed a huge sigh of relief after their side picked up three vital points before the international break. The 2-0 victory over relegation rivals Venezia moved them seven points above the dropzone.
This Sunday, Sampdoria return to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, where it’s been nothing but entertaining for those in attendance this season. In their 15 home fixtures, 51 goals have been scored – an average of 3.4 goals per game. 80% of these matches have featured over 2.5 goals and 73% have seen both teams score.
Funnily enough, Roma’s away matches have also averaged 3.4 goals per game. Jose Mourinho’s men have already beaten last season’s goal tally on the road, mainly because they have found the net in 12 of their 14 away fixtures.
Roma aren’t a team that settles with scoring once either: the ‘Giallorossi’ have scored two or more goals on nine occasions away from home, which will be a concern to Samp manager Marco Giampaolo. His side has kept just two clean sheets on home turf and allowed the opposition at least two goals in nine of their home games.
Roma themselves have only kept three clean sheets away from the Stadio Olimpico. Although this represents another slight improvement compared to last season, it has been a major hindrance in their quest for a Champions League spot in this campaign.
Other games will grab the headlines on Sunday, but this fixture might offer the most entertainment in terms of goals.
- Selection: Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals
- Best Odds: 2.25 (10Bet)
- Stakes: 7/10
WHAT IS A SERIE A ACCA?
A Serie A acca is an accumulator bet, a type of bet that consists of several selections across different matches that are combined together into one single bet. An acca usually. consists of at least four selections but many more can be included. There will be odds for the single bet as a whole which is calculated by multiplying the odds of all of the selections. A Serie A acca is one of the most popular ways to bet. This is the case because they can create potentially massive odds for a small stake. Many punters choose to create Serie A accas which is what we have created here. If one of these selections loses then the Serie A acca will lose. This type of bet needs every selection to win in order to succeed.
