Brighton vs Southampton: Tackles Fly Against the Seagulls
England, Premier League, Friday, 29th November, 20:00 (UK)
Brighton are in fine fettle ahead of their Friday night clash with Southampton. They have won their last two games and have 22 points to show for their efforts this season. Fabian Hurzeler has done a remarkable job since taking over in the summer. A return to European football is definitely on the cards.
The Saints’ prospects are less promising. After 12 matches, they are five points from safety and have the worst goal difference in the division, with -15. Russell Martin’s side took the lead against Liverpool last weekend but eventually succumbed to a 3-2 defeat.
The Seagulls are forcing an average of 21.17 tackles per game, making them the second-most tackles team in the Premier League. 10 of their 12 opponents so far have reached the 18 tackles mark. Manchester City are the only team to play a league game at the Amex this season and make less than 18 tackles. Pep’s side make the fewest tackles in the league by some distance.
Southampton make an average of 16.5 tackles per game in the league, just below what’s required for this bet to land. However, that should increase here. They made 21 tackles when they faced Leicester, who are the fourth most tackled team in England’s top flight.
- Selection: Over 17.5 Tackles For Southampton (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.80
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Brentford vs Leicester: Plenty of Sting When the Bees are in Action
England, Premier League, Saturday, 30th November, 15:00 (UK)
Brentford are firmly in midtable heading into matchday 13. The Bees were fighting it out near the bottom last season but they have their sights set on a top-half finish or maybe even an unlikely European place this time around.
Leicester have failed to win any of their last five competitive matches. They remain outside the relegation zone but the club took the decision to sack Steve Cooper. Ruud van Nistelrooy looks set to take charge of the Foxes but he won’t be on the touchline this weekend.
The Bees’ matches have seen the most attempts in the Premier League with an average of 30.17 per game. This average increases slightly to 30.33 if we only use the data from their home matches. There have been 26 shots or more in their last 11 league games.
The Foxex matches average a more modest 27.33 shots but that’s still comfortably above the line of 25.5 set by the bookmaker here. Over 25.5 shots has won in five of Leicester’s six away matches.
- Selection: Over 25.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.72
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
West Ham vs Arsenal: The Gunners are Cautious with their Attacking Arsenal
England, Premier League, Saturday, 30th November, 17:30 (UK)
West Ham earned an impressive win over Newcastle at St. James’s Park last weekend. Julen Lopetegui has struggled to make an impact in the early stages of his tenure but wins like that will buy him the time he needs to oversee change at the Hammers.
Mikel Arteta came into the season with the goal of toppling Manchester City and winning the Premier League title. Liverpool are now the team to beat but Arsenal’s goal remains unchanged. They have had some setbacks in their opening 12 games but they have the opportunity to close the nine-point gap to the leaders this weekend.
The Hammers have had the second most goal kicks in the division with an average of 9.33 but those numbers are inflated by their away games. At home, this average drops to 6.67. West Ham have had eight goal kicks or less in all six of their league outings at the London Stadium so far.
Arsenal haven’t shown the same attacking impetus as they did last season, particularly on the road. Their shot numbers have dwindled and they are forcing fewer goal kicks as a result. When the Gunners play on the road, their opponents are averaging 6.67 goals kicks per game.
- Selection: Under 8.5 Goal Kicks For West Ham (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 2.10
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Chelsea vs Aston Villa: Low Line Provides Opportunity
England, Premier League, Sunday, 1st December, 13:30 (UK)
Chelsea have made progress under Enzo Maresca. They are level on points with Arsenal after 12 games and are just a point behind Manchester City. Returning to the Champions League would be viewed as a huge success for the Blues but an unlikely title challenge isn’t out of the question.
Aston Villa continued their disappointing run of form as they failed to secure the win against Juventus. Unai Emery’s side have now gone seven games without a win across all competitions. They find themselves 8th in the Premier League, three points behind 4th.
Neither of these teams matches rank highly in terms of throws but Enzo Maresca’s side have forced a reasonable number in the opening months of the season. In their league games at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea opponents are averaging 18.17 throws per game. All six opposing teams to travel to this ground have had 14 throws or more.
The Villains’ average of 14.08 throws per game is the third lowest in the league but would still see this bet land. Aston Villa have had over 13.5 throws in five of their six away games.
- Selection: Over 13.5 Throws For Aston Villa (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Manchester United vs Everton: No Quick Fix for United’s Attack
England, Premier League, Sunday, 1st December, 13:30 (UK)
Manchester United made a fantastic start in Ruben Amorim’s opening game against Ipswich when Marcus Rashford opened the scoring in the second minute. However, the Red Devils were unable to keep up the pressure, highlighting the size of the job that the Portuguese manager has at Old Trafford.
Everton head into December just two points above the bottom three. They also have a rotten run of fixtures that sees them square off against Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City before the month is out.
The Red Devils have struggled to create chances for quite some time and that looks set to continue in the early stages of Amorim’s reign. The team are averaging just 13.33 shots per Premier League game at Old Trafford this season. Under 17.5 United shots has won in five of those matches.
The Toffees have won just one of their six away games. Despite their woes, they haven’t afforded their opponents many opportunities to shoot. During those matches, Everton have conceded an average of 12.5 shots and this bet has won in all six.
- Selection: Under 17.5 Shots For Manchester United (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Liverpool vs Manchester City: Promising Throw Numbers at Anfield
England, Premier League, Sunday, 1st December, 16:00 (UK)
Liverpool have the chance to extend their lead at the top by beating Manchester City this weekend. Arne Slot’s men will be full of confidence after beating Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Pep Guardiola was visibly distressed after his team threw away a three-goal lead to draw against Feyenoord in the Champions League. The champions of England have now gone six competitive matches without a win, losing five. They were hammered by Tottenham last weekend and could suffer another beating at Anfield.
The Reds’ league matches have seen an average of 35.67 throws per game this season, above the overall league average of 33.02. Five of their six Premier League games at Anfield have seen 32 throws or more. The last five head-to-heads between these sides at this ground have seen an average of 37.8 throws.
Manchester City matches have seen the second-fewest throws in the league with an average of 27.83. However, they haven’t been at their best of late and will find it difficult to hold onto the ball for long periods against the league leaders. Pep’s side have played two of the traditional Big Six in away matches across all competitions in this campaign. Those games saw 35 and 42 throws.
- Selection: Over 31.5 Throws In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
