Leicester vs Chelsea: The Foxes Hunt for Goals
England, Premier League, Saturday, 23rd November, 12:30 (UK)
Leicester have a plethora of injuries to contend with as they prepare to take on Chelsea at the King Power Stadium in Saturday’s early game. Steve Cooper’s side are currently 15th and are the best-performing newly-promoted outfit. However, they have failed to win any of their last three games in the Premier League.
This match sees Enzo Maresca take on his former club. He left the Foxes in the summer after guiding them to the Championship title. The early stages of his Chelsea tenure have gone according to plan. The Blues are targeting a return to the Champions League and they sit 3rd going into matchday 12.
The Foxes have shown plenty of attacking intent this season, scoring in 10 of their 11 league games thus far. This intent means they have forced plenty of goal kicks from the opposition. Their opponents are averaging 7.73 goal kicks per league game. This rises to 9.4 if we only use the data from Leicester’s home games.
Chelsea have had an average of 6.36 goal kicks per Premier League game this season and seven in away games.
- Selection: Over 5.5 Goals Kicks For Chelsea (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.72
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Everton vs Brentford: Sticky Situation for the Bees
England, Premier League, Saturday, 23rd November, 15:00 (UK)
Everton are sailing dangerously close to the wind once again. Sean Dyche’s side are just two points ahead of the bottom three ahead of this clash with Brentford and it’s safe to say they have a perilous run of fixtures before Christmas. The Toffees will face the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City in their next six games after Saturday.
Brentford were beaten by two injury-time goals from Harry Wilson in their last away game. However, they managed to bounce back by beating Bournemouth before the international break. Thomas Frank’s team are six points ahead of Everton ahead of their trip to Goodison Park.
With a difficult run of fixtures on the horizon, Everton need to secure all three points here or they run the risk of being in the bottom three at the turn of the year. Therefore, we are backing Sean Dyche’s side to get plenty of shots away. The Toffees had 18 shots in this fixture last season.
The Bees have conceded the most shots in the Premier League with an average of 18.45 per game. They have conceded 18 shots or more in all five of their away matches with an average of 21.8 per game.
- Selection: Over 14.5 Shots For Everton (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.80
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Manchester City vs Tottenham: Tackles Trending Downward for City
England, Premier League, Saturday, 23rd November, 17:30 (UK)
Manchester City have are enduring a run of four straight defeats. Two of those came in the Premier League but all of them were on the road. It is the first time that Pep Guardiola has lost four consecutive games as a manager but City’s form at the Etihad could give them the confidence needed to get back to winning ways.
Ange Postecoglou’s side eliminated City from the EFL Cup at the end of last month. In fact, Tottenham have a good record against the the Citizens in recent years. Since Pep Guardiola took over at the Etihad, Spurs have recorded eight wins over City. Unfortunately for the visitors, just one of those came at this ground.
Pep’s side are fantastic at playing through the opposition press and preventing possession turnovers. As a result, their matches have seen the fewest tackles in the league with an average of 30.73 per game. This drops to 29.6 in their home matches.
Tottenham matches see plenty of tackles but their clashes with City tend to buck this trend. There were 29 tackles when they squared off in the EFL Cup last month. This bet has won with ease in their last four games at the Etihad with those matches averaging just 23.5 tackles per game.
- Selection: Under 33.5 Tackles In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 2.00
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Southampton vs Liverpool: Arne Slot’s Impregnable Defence
England, Premier League, Sunday, 24th November, 14:00 (UK)
Southampton are rock bottom of the Premier League having picked up just four points from their 11 matches. They also have the worst goal difference with -14. They secured their only win of the season so far against Everton, Liverpool’s local rivals, in their last game at the St. Mary’s Stadium.
Arne Slot had big shoes to fill when he came in to replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield but his team have made a wonderful start. They are top of the league and enjoy a five-point lead over Manchester City. Liverpool know they cannot afford to take their foot off the gas but performances indicate they are up for the challenge.
The Saints have faced just four teams who are currently in the top half of the table. They are averaging 9.25 shots in those games but this number drops to six if we exclude the clash with Newcastle on the opening weekend, when Southampton played against 10 men for over an hour.
Liverpool boast the best defensive record in the division. They have conceded the fewest goals in the division and the third-fewest shots. What’s surprising is that the Reds are affording their opponents fewer opportunities to score in away games. Slot’s side are conceding an average of 8.2 shots per away game.
- Selection: Under 8.5 Shots For Southampton (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 2.00
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Ipswich vs Manchester United: New Manager Bounce is Key
England, Premier League, Sunday, 24th November, 16:30 (UK)
Ipswich secured a win away at Tottenham in their last outing to climb out of the bottom three. Kieran McKenna’s side earned their place in the Premier League with back-to-back promotions. Surviving in the top tier of English football would be viewed as a tremendous success for the Tractor Boys.
Ruben Amorim is gearing up to take charge of his first game in charge of Manchester United. He left Sporting, who are sitting top of the league in Portugal, to take over from Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford. The Portuguese manager will be hoping to continue the improvements seen during Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s stint as interim boss.
The Tractor Boys are conceding an average of 15.55 shots per league game so far. They conceded 17 shots in their last game against Spurs. Leicester were the most recent visitors to Portman Road and they had 20 attempts.
Manchester United were unable to sustain attacks under Erik Ten Hag but Amorim’s tactics and the personnel in the United squad should mean they are more capable this weekend. The Red Devils are averaging 14 shots per game in the Premier League this season, just under what’s required here. However, they have had 16 shots or more in the first competitive match of their last five managers. We are backing over 15.5 shots, a bet that was featured in more detail during this week’s Betting Expert podcast.
- Selection: Over 15.5 Shots For Manchester United (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 2.00
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Newcastle vs West Ham: St. James’s Park Sees Plenty of Hard Knocks
England, Premier League, Monday, 25th November, 20:00 (UK)
Newcastle moved into the top half of the table by coming from behind to beat Nottingham Forest before the break. Eddie Howe’s side are targeting a return to Europe after missing out last season. Alexander Isak’s form is a big boost for the Magpies as they look to break into the top five.
Julen Lopetegui has struggled to get this West Ham team singing from the same hymn sheet. He was brought in to replace David Moyes in the summer but the Hammers have struggled to build momentum. They have three wins from their 11 league outings.
Newcastle matches have seen plenty of fouls thus far with an average of 25.55 per game. That’s the third highest in the league, marginally below Tottenham games, which have seen an average of 25.91 fouls. At St. James’s Park, the Magpies outings have seen an average of 27.6 fouls. Bet365’s free kicks market also includes offsides so over 24.5 free kicks has won in four of Newcastle’s five home games.
West Ham away matches are averaging 22.6 fouls and 3.6 offsides per game, taking us just above the threshold for this bet.
- Selection: Over 24.5 Free Kicks In The Match (TRACKED BET)
