Milan vs Juventus: Cagey Affair in Milan
Italy, Serie A, Saturday, 23rd November, 17:00 (UK)
It’s safe to say that Paulo Fonseca hasn’t made a flying start to his tenure at Milan. The team are 7th in Serie A, just one place below Juventus but the gap is six points. The new manager has come under fire for some of the performances.
Juventus turned to Thiago Motta in the summer in the hope of becoming a more possession-based attacking team. There have been some encouraging signs since the start of the season but there is still work to be done, particularly going forward. Nevertheless, the Old Lady are yet to taste defeat in the league.
Milan’s league matches have seen an average of 26 shots this season but the numbers dwindle in clashes with Juventus. There were just 21 attempts in this fixture last season and the Old Lady’s change in approach should help this bet.
Motta’s side have the best defensive record in the league. They are conceding an average of just 0.58 goals per game and have been able to heavily restrict their opponents’ shooting opportunities. They are conceding an average of 8.25 shots per game and their matches overall have seen 21.58 attempts on average.
- Selection: Under 24.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.80
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 10/10
Como vs Fiorentina: Palladino Has Made an Impact
Italy, Serie A, Sunday, 24th November, 14:00 (UK)
Como have their noses above the relegation under Cesc Fabregas. It’s an exciting project off the pitch and the team are attempting to play some positive football. However, survival might be the summit of their ambition this season having earned promotion from the Serie B in the last campaign.
Raffaele Palladino replaced Vincenzo Italiano, who made the move to Bologna in the summer. Fiorentina have fared well under the new boss and are part of the tight group of teams that are in contention aiming to challenge for the title. They come into the weekend a point behind Napoli, who are the current league leaders
Cesc’s side have conceded the third-fewest shots in the top tier of Italian football with an average of just 9.92 per game. Nevertheless, over 12.5 shots for Fiorentina looks a good bet given that Como have conceded 14 shots in both of their home matches against teams in the top half.
Fiorentina look to find the pockets of space in front of the opposition’s defence and exploit them. This makes them a strong attacking outfit. They are averaging 14.17 shots per game in Serie A this season.
- Selection: Over 12.5 Shots For Fiorentina (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.90
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Stuttgart vs Bochum: Perilous Times at the Bochum
Germany, Bundesliga, Saturday, 23rd November, 14:30 (UK)
Stuttgart would have been the big story in Germany last season if it weren’t for Bayer Leverkusen’s miraculous unbeaten season which saw them clinch their first-ever title. Sebastian Hoeneß has the team playing excellent attacking football and led them to a 2nd-place finish after just surviving relegation in the previous season. They’ve struggled defensively at the start of this campaign but there is time to turn it around.
Bochum mounted a comeback in the relegation playoff last season to retain their top-flight status but they look unlikely to have that opportunity this time around. Die Unabsteigbaren are bottom of the league, six points behind the playoff spot.
Stuttgart are averaging the third most shots in the Bundesliga this season and this is due to their attacking output at home. Hoeneß’s side are averaging 20.5 shots per game in front of their own fans. Stuttgart had 21 shots in this fixture last season.
Bochum are conceding an average of 18.4 shots per away game this season. This bet has won in three of their last four games on the road.
- Selection: Over 18.5 Shots For Stuttgart (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
H2: Eintracht Frankfurt vs Werder Bremen: The Visitors Have Plenty to Offer
Germany, Bundesliga, Saturday, 23rd November, 17:30 (UK)
Eintracht Frankfurt have made a blistering start to the campaign. Only Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund have been able to beat Dino Toppmoller’s side. They currently sit 3rd in the Bundesliga, just a point behind RB Leipzig and have been playing some entertaining football.
Werder Bremen will also be happy with the way they have started. They are 8th after 10 matches played, one place above where they finished last season. Ole Werner’s side have suffered just three defeats so should put up a fight when they head to Frankfurt.
Toppmoller’s team have conceded the most shots in the Bundesliga this season with an average of 18 per game, which is a far cry from the last campaign when they conceded just 12.32 shots per game. Their opponents have reached the 11-shot mark in all four of their home matches so far.
Werder Bremen have also had over 10.5 shots in all five of their away matches with an average of 15.6 per game. They had 11 shots in this fixture last season.
- Selection: Over 10.5 Shots For Werder Bremen (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Holstein Kiel vs Mainz: Hammer and Tongs Battle
Germany, Bundesliga, Sunday, 24th November, 14:30 (UK)
Holstein Kiel finished 2nd in the Bundesliga 2 last season and are putting up a fight this term. This is their first-ever season in the German top flight. They snatched their first-ever Bundesliga win when they beat Heidenheim 1-0 earlier this month and sit four points from safety.
Mainz are unbeaten in four away matches. They have netted nine goals during that run and we should expect entertainment once again. Bo Henriksen’s side secured an impressive win over Borussia Dortmund before the international break.
Kiel’s matches have seen the fifth most shots in the Bundesliga with an average of 28.8 per game so over 26.5 appeals here. This will be viewed as a match where they can get something so expect them to commit men forward.
Die Nullfunder’s league matches have seen 27.4 shots on average, just above the overall Bundesliga average of 26.99. If we only include the data from their away games, the shot average climbs to 29.75.
- Selection: Over 26.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.72
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Celta Vigo vs Barcelona: Shots Fly When These Teams Clash
Spain, La Liga, Saturday, 23rd November, 20:00 (UK)
Celta Vigo are firmly in midtable 13 games into the La Liga season. Claudio Giraldez has been a revelation since replacing Rafael Benitez in March and steering the team clear of relegation. They have been scoring plenty of goals and should offer something against the might of Barcelona.
Hansi Flick has his team sitting at the top of the league. Barcelona were well off the pace set by Real Madrid last season but the German has come in and made them a formidable outfit. Robert Lewandowski is also back to his brilliant best, making the Blaugrana a force to be reckoned with.
Os Celestes matches this season have seen an average of 23.46 shots but the numbers are more promising in recent games against Barcelona. Over 25.5 shots won in both head-to-heads between the teams last season.
Barcelona’s away matches in La Liga have seen 26.38 shots on average. Flick’s side have also had the most shots in the league overall with an average of 16.62.
- Selection: Over 25.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.80
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
