Independiente are one of the giants of South America. They are the most successful side in the history of the Copa Libertadores, but success has been hard to come by in recent years. Los Diablos Rojo’s are also on a torrid run of form and they will be keen to put an end to it. The team are without a win in five matches and have lost four in that period.
Tucuman have lost just once in their last ten games in all competitions and they have won their last four matches, and I’m expecting them to make it difficult for Independiente here.

Independiente’s last 10 matches in all competitions are averaging just 2.2 goals per game, while Tucuman have averaged just 1.5. Between both of these sides, just three of those 20 matches have seen four or more goals.
I’m expecting a low-scoring game here. The corners stats also make for good viewing. Tucuman have reached the four corner mark in nine of their last 10 meetings with Independiente, and I’m expecting them to create chances here.

Sarmiento vs Colon Preview

We return to Argentina for our second pick. Sarmiento take on Colon, with the teams separated by just one point after nine games.
Colon have really struggled away from home of late, they have failed to win a single match on the road since the end of February; a run that stretched 14 games. Sarmiento have been solid in front of their own fans, they have lost just two of their last 10 home matches – winning six of those matches.

Brazilian powerhouses Sao Paulo are also in action on Saturday night, and they are strong favourites as they host Goias. Sao Paulo have endured a tough start to the season and they find themselves firmly in midtable after 18 games, but the meeting with Goias gives them the perfect opportunity to turn their form around and put an end to a run of four games without a victory.
Goias matches have been very low on goals recently, so I can see why the bookmakers have been slightly generous when pricing those up. Their last 10 matches have seen an average of 1.7 goals per game. Despite their woes, scoring has not been a problem for Sao Paulo; they have scored 16 goals in their last seven matches. They have also been conceding a fair few, particularly in recent weeks, where they have shipped seven goals in their last three matches.
