Reims vs Nice Prediction: Team News and Lineups Preview

Reims vs Nice Prediction: Team News and Lineups Preview
Nice, France. 5th Nov, 2023. Dante Costa Santos of OGC Nice reacts during the Ligue 1 match at Allianz Riviera Stadium, Nice

Welcome to our Reims vs Nice prediction, team news, lineups and fixtures preview. Two teams in the hunt for European qualification meet in the Champagne region of France but the football has been anything but bubbly in recent weeks.

OGC Nice’s Ligue 1 form has dried up completely and their defense has become far more vulnerable. They travel to a Reims side who are not easy to beat but lack the consistency to challenge for the top six. French expert Steve Wyss previews the game looking for the best betting approaches.

Reims vs Nice Prediction 1: Neither defense can be trusted right now

France, Ligue 1, Sunday 7th April, 14:00 (UK)

This is a difficult fixture to predict. Neither team has been in great form recently, and momentum appears to be on the low side. For the majority of the season, Nice looked in fantastic shape to qualify for the Champions League, but now it looks like they might struggle to even finish in the top six. Heading into this encounter they’ve lost six of their last eight domestic fixtures, conceding 14 goals in the process. Whether the squad just couldn’t maintain their level of defensive resilience or whether other teams have worked them out, an inability to keep things tight has become a major problem.

BTTS – Yes stands out at 1.80 as perhaps the best bet in this game. Reims are another team that has struggled to keep clean sheets recently, failing to shut out any opponent in their last eight consecutive games. This feels like a game that both need to win, so in theory, we should perhaps be bolder and back over 2.5 goals. I do think it’s wise to cover for the potential 1-1 draw, though, because the way things are going, then it wouldn’t surprise me to see both sides drop points again. Finding victories and clean sheets has been tough, so BTTS at 1.80 looks overpriced.

  • Reims vs Nice Prediction 1: BTTS – Yes (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

Reims vs Nice Prediction 2: Stats point to half time draw

Because both teams need to win and because I quite fancy goals being scored in this game, then I am not as convinced about the half-time draw compared to normal. However, the stats very much point in the direction of a level opening period. Nice have been drawing a massive 16 out of 27 times at HT this season, with Reims drawing 15. These two sides have some of the highest draw numbers for the first half out of any side in the division, so when odds of 2.10 are offered then it feels like it needs to be snapped up.

As aforementioned, the situation of the game and the goalscoring potential does put me off. This is a match between two even teams, though, so if someone gets ahead, then the other team could easily respond. Something like a 1-1 HT score can’t be ruled out where neither side runs away from the other. The statistics suggest that these odds should be below 2.0, so I am comfortable we are getting a value price despite slightly lower confidence than normal.

  • Reims vs Nice Prediction 2: Draw at Half Time (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 2.10
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 5/10

Reims vs Nice Prediction 3: Moffi to score in three consecutive games

The goal line is quite low here so there is some extra value with potential goalscorers. Reims’ Oumar Diakite is a big temptation at odds of 4.33 but I think the safest option is to go with the classiest forward on the field which is Terem Moffi. The Nigerian hitman has now reached double digits for the season after netting from the penalty spot last week which added to his brace of goals vs Lens the week before.

Moffi has been restricted in a more defensive Nice system this season but their recent inability to keep out goals has seen Les Aiglons rely more on their offensive firepower. This should work in his favour, and it will also do him no harm to have wrestled back penalty-taking responsibilities. Moffi is a high-quality player and a proven performer at Ligue 1 level. If Nice do score, then he is by far the most likely culprit. The odds of 3.20 looks fairly generous considering his recent upturn in form and facing a defence which has struggled for clean sheets.

  • Reims vs Nice Prediction 3: Terem Moffi to Score Anytime (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 3.20
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 4/10

Reims vs Nice Team News and Possible Lineups: Reims can’t bare to be without Teddy

Defender Thibault De Smet returns from suspension for Reims. Attacking midfielder Teddy Teuma is highly doubtful with a calf injury and might not feature.

He is the top scorer so it’s a major blow. Mohamed Daramy is doubtful with a knee problem. Nice have a squad in good condition with no significant injuries or suspensions.

Reims possible starting lineup: Diouf, De Smet, Abdelhamid, Agbadou, Okumu, Nakamura, Munetsi, Atangana, Khadra, Diakite

Nice possible starting lineup: Bulka, Perraud, Dante, Todibo, Lotomba, Claude-Maurice, Louchet, Boudaoui, Boga, Moffi, Cho
