Leicester vs Leeds Best Bet

Sat, March 5th, 12:30 (UK TIme)

This will be manager Jesse Marsch’s first Premier League match in charge of Leeds United. Six of the last seven people to take charge of Leeds in the Premier League have lost their first game.

The reverse fixture finishes 1-1 back in November. I can see this one going down a similar route. Leicester are winless in their last three home Premier League matches despite taking the lead in all three.

The oft-heralded new manager bounce should kick in here. I’m backing Leeds to turn things around and start picking up points. Marsch’s first job should be to sort out a defence that has conceded at least twice in Leeds’ last five Premier League matches. Concede two here and they’ll set an unwanted club record.

  • Selection: Leeds +0.5 (AH)
  • Odds: 2.14 (10Bet)
  • Stakes: 7/10

Burnley vs Chelsea Best Bet

Sat, March 5th, 15:00 (UK TIme)

It’s been a difficult few weeks for Chelsea. The Blues may have won the Club World Cup but they’ve stuttered in the Premier League, lost a cup final on penalties and very nearly went out of the FA Cup to Luton in midweek. They now travel to a resurgent Burnley side that has taken seven points from four.

The score was 1-1 when these sides met at Stamford Bridge back in November. That match sparked a major turnaround in Chelsea’s season. The Blues had won eight out of 10 Premier League matches until that one. They’ve since won only six of their last 15.

The Blues have dropped points in four of their last six Premier League away matches. They’ve only scored seven times in that run of matches and three of them came in the 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Boxing Day. I fancy Burnley on the Asian lines given the situation at Stamford Bridge.

  • Selection: Burnley +1 (AH)
  • Odds: 2.06 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 6/10

Aston Villa vs Southampton Best Bet

Sat, March 5th, 15:00 (UK TIme)

Aston Villa welcome bogey team Southampton to Villa Park here. The hosts are winless in their last six home matches against Southampton, losing the last three. The Saints have won six of their last eight matches against Villa in the Premier League.

There is a contrast in form between the two teams. Southampton have won three of their last four Premier League games and lost only one of their last 10. Aston Villa have won only three of their last 10 and none of their last four home matches.

So it’s a surprise to see the hosts as the favourites. I think the bookies have been far too generous here by giving Southampton a quarter of a goal. I expect the Saints’ form to end fairly soon but I’m hoping it will last just one match longer.

  • Selection: Southampton +0.25 (AH)
  • Odds: 1.88 (BetVictor)
  • Stakes: 8/10

Norwich vs Brentford Best Bet

Sat, March 5th, 15:00 (UK TIme)

It’s a crucial match at the bottom of the table as Norwich welcome Brentford. The Canaries sit bottom, five points off safety. The goals have dried up for Norwich yet again. 40% of their goals for the season came in that three-game run beween the end of January and early February. They’ve since scored one in their last three but have faced Liverpool, Manchester City and Southampton.

Brentford have taken one point from their last eight Premier League matches. It’s a dire run for Thomas Frank’s side who face Norwich and Burnley in their next two. They’ll have to get at least three points from that but goals have been an issue for them as well. The Bees have scored only one in four matches. Under on goals looks the right bet here.

  • Selection: Under 2.25 Goals
  • Odds: 1.82 (10Bet)
  • Stakes: 7/10

Newcastle vs Brighton Best Bet

Sat, March 5th, 15:00 (UK TIme)

Another potential relegation decider sees Newcastle take on Brighton. The Magpies are one of the form sides in the Premier League right now with four wins from five. They haven’t lost any of their last seven Premier League matches. It’s their longest unbeaten run in the competition since 2011.

But the Magpies have faced Brighton nine times in the Premier League without winning any. It’s the highest number of matches they’ve played against an opponent in the Premier League without winning. They haven’t scored in any of their last four home league matches against the Seagulls.

This might be the match to turn things around. Brighton come into this one on a dire run of form with three straight defeats. Graham Potter’s men didn’t score in any of them. I’d normally be on the visitors here but Newcastle have something going on. It’s hard to ignore this stark turnaround in form and I can see it continuing.

  • Selection: Newcastle to Win
  • Odds: 2.70 (Unibet)
  • Stakes: 5/10

Wolves vs Crystal Palace Best Bet

Sat, March 5th, 15:00 (UK TIme)

I’m going under on goals in the Wolves vs Crystal Palace match. Going under on goals in a Wolves match has been one of the most profitable bets this season. I’m counting on it again because I just can’t pick a winner for this fixture.

Wolves have lost two consecutive Premier League matches for the first time since they faced Liverpool and Manchester City consecutively in December. Only one side has beaten them by more than a single goal in their last 21 Premier League matches and that was Crystal Palace back in November.

Goals have been an issue for the Eagles on the road. Palace have scored six in their last seven Premier League away matches and two-thirds of them came in the 4-1 over Watford last month. I’m going under again here.

  • Selection: Under 2 Goals
  • Odds: 1.95 (MansionBet)
  • Stakes: 7/10

Liverpool vs West Ham Best Bet

Sat, March 5th, 17:30 (UK TIme)

The evening match on Saturday sees Liverpool take on West Ham. I was tempted to back the visitors on the Asian line but it stands at +1.5. Had it been at 1.75 I’d have been on David Moyes’ men but at two-goal Reds victory wouldn’t be a shock. That’s despite the 3-2 win for West Ham in the reverse fixture. The Hammers have only done the domestic double over Liverpool once before in the Premier League era.

The goals had been drying up for Liverpool before Leeds came to town. That 6-0 victory over Marcelo Bielsa’s men seems to have distracted some. Liverpool had been averaging 2.0 goals per game in the six Premier League matches before then. Very few other markets are tempting me here so I’m counting on that to continue and I’m going under the goal line.

  • Selection: Under 3 Goals
  • Odds: 2.05 (MansionBet)
  • Stakes: 6/10

Watford vs Arsenal Best Bet

Sun, March 6th, 14:00 (UK Time)

Watford welcome an in-form Arsenal side to Vicarage Road for this London Derby. The Gunners have won seven of their last nine Premier League matches including each of their last three away games. It’s a stark turnaround for the side that lost three consecutive away league matches before then.

I’m hesitant to back the Gunners here. Not least because of the 1.64 1X2 odds. Arsenal -1 doesn’t appeal to me on the Asian line and neither does the inverse. I’m instead looking at the Both Teams to Score market. I’m backing yes on BTTS here given Arsenal’s recent performances. Both teams have scored in three of Arsenal’s last five Premier League matches since the start of the year. I can see that continuing here.

  • Selection: Yes on Both Teams to Score
  • Odds: 2.05 (Betfair)
  • Stakes: 7/10

Manchester City vs Manchester United Best Bet

Sun, March 6th, 16:30 (UK Time)

I’m backing the upset in Sunday’s Manchester Derby. We’ve got a full Manchester Derby Bet Builder on site that goes in another direction but I can see value with the visitors. United have only actually lost one of their last 15 Premier League matches. Fixtures have been kind to them but I can see that run continuing.

United have won four of their last five away matches against their city rivals. An extraordinary record given the contrasting fortunes of the two clubs in that time. That run may not continue here but the bookies have given United a goal and a quarter for this match. It’s too good to turn down given City have stuttered of late, dropping points in two of their last five.

  • Selection: Manchester United +1.25 (AH)
  • Odds: 2.04 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 6/10

Tottenham vs Everton Best Bet

Mon, March 7th, 20:00 (UK Time)

This bumper Premier League weekend concludes with Tottenham vs Everton on Monday night. We already have a Tottenham vs Everton bet builder on site but I’m going in a slightly different direction. Both teams have been struggling of late. Spurs have lost four of their last six and the Toffees have lost seven of their last nine. Everton haven’t won a Premier League away match since they beat Brighton 2-0 back in August.

Spurs have a good record against the Toffees. They’ve only lost one of their last 18 Premier League matches against them – although that sole defeat came last season. Both clubs have changed managers twice since then. After a 100%  start, Antonio Conte has lost his last two home league matches. The last time Spurs lost three home league matches in a row was under Juande Ramos in 2008.

I don’t expect that to happen here. Everton’s away form is atrocious and Spurs clicked in midweek with that 4-0 win over Leeds. I’m backing a home win in the 1X2 market despite the short odds.

  • Selection: Tottenham to Win
  • Odds: 1.60 (Coral)
  • Stakes: 8/10
