Premier League Acca Tips and Predictions: Man United Woes
The Premier League is back with another bustling fixture schedule after several intriguing results over the festive period. Man United have been struggling for weeks, and it doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon. All things point towards a low-scoring affair at Goodison, not one for the ages. Over in London, Palace’s pacey winger might find himself with ample chances against the worst side in the Premier League.

Man United vs Newcastle: Amorim’s woes to continue
England, Premier League, Monday, December 30th, 20:00 (UK)
Man United are struggling. That’s to put it lightly. Even with 11 men at Molineux, they looked way off against a Wolves side who were only playing the second game under their new manager, Vitor Perreira. In forward areas, the Red Devils look extremely blunt, creating just 0.44 xG.
Monday’s visitors, Newcastle, have been in fine form in the past few weeks, winning three in a row, all to nil. Across the past three games, they have won 11-0, including two 4-0 wins against two of the promoted sides. It has been a much-needed upturn from the Magpies as they push up the table into fifth, four points off fourth.
A real contrast in mood and form will meet at Old Trafford on Monday evening. Newcastle will be direct with pace and power, beginning from their combative midfield three of Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton, and Sandro Tonali, who will walk all over whichever pair Ruben Amorim puts out to face them.
Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon will be licking their lips when looking at a United defence that has conceded nine in their last three in all competitions. Due to the poor decision-making of club captain Bruno Fernandes, he will miss the Newcastle match-up because of the red card from two avoidable yellows. Without Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, who Amorim doesn’t see in his starting plans moving forward, United won’t have much firepower to overthrow any Magpies dominance.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest: Snoozefest on the cards
England, Premier League, Monday, December 29th, 15:00 (UK)
The Everton gaffer has The Toffees playing prime Sean Dyche football. It’s a brand we have all become accustomed to in recent years. It’s not the easiest on the eye, but it is effective. The Toffees have overseen a 0-0 draw on five occasions in 2024/25 – the most frequent scoreline for Everton this term. Both teams regularly fail to score when Everton plays, with BTTS-No occurring 11 times already. Their ability to kill games has been ever-present following their wobble at the start of the season.
The Toffees lack a goalscorer. It’s been glaringly obvious for a number of seasons now. An out-of-sorts Dominic Calvert-Lewin is not the type of forward to spearhead a Premier League line towards scoring bucketloads of goals. They are the second-lowest scorers with 15 in 17 games. Now, up against a defence as good as the one at Forest, it suggests Everton might be limited to just a handful of chances. Murillo and Nikola Milkenovic have been rock solid at the back. They’re arguably one of the best duos in the league, a key reason why Forest are on a top-four charge.
Nuno’s Tricky Trees have been one of the best at winning tight contests. They have won five games 1-0, with a total of seven games to nil. The past four outings have shown just how good they are, beating a number of big names and keeping a clean sheet against two of the most free-scoring sides in the division.
This match-up might not be a classic, with the defensives likely dominating the game, reducing this from a spectacle to more of a chess match. Here, we have two managers who are defensive-minded and keen on the back door being shut tight before attempting to open up and play.

Crystal Palace vs Southampton: Super Sarr to net again
England, Premier League, Sunday, December 29th, 15:00 (UK)
Crystal Palace’s upturn in form has seen Ismaila Sarr’s performances go up a level. The first display that made the neutrals sit up and take notice was away at Villa Park when Palace, due to injuries, were short in forward areas. The Senegalese winger stepped up with a goal and an assist. He has also done his adoration from the fans no harm by grabbing the big game away in Brighton by the scruff of the neck. Two goals and an assist meant all three points returned to Selhurst Park in quite a dominant fashion.
Even though Southampton’s board have opted for a man in Ivan Juric, who is more risk-averse than his predecessor, Russell Martin, it will be hard for a Championship-level squad to keep the score down. The Saints have proved that teams can cut through them regularly before the Croatian’s appointment. In his first game on the sidelines, Southampton created more chances than usual, but West Ham still accumulated 1.81xG.
Sarr and the rest of Palace’s forwards will have chances throughout the 90 minutes in London. Saints are going down, and Palace, if they have any aspirations of climbing the table, must be turning over Juric’s side here. If they do, Sarr should be front and centre.
