Newcastle vs Fulham Prediction: Team News and Lineups Preview
Matthew O’Regan has his Newcastle vs Fulham prediction preview as The Whites make the treacherous 575 mile round trip up north to St James Park. The sides are separated by eight points, so Fulham will be looking to close the gap in the Premier League as they pursue Europe. The reverse fixture saw Fulham win 3-1 their first victory over Newcastle in nine matches – dating back to the Championship in 2017.
Newcastle vs Fulham prediction: Scoring Scandinavian
England, Premier League, Saturday, February 1st, 15:00 (UK)
After a disappointing summer window that saw them lose promising talents Yankubah Minteh and Elliot Anderson due to PSR concerns, Newcastle started the season very slowly, with fans worried about the direction the club were going in. Fast forward to January 2025 and the Geordie faithful will be delighted, with their side now in fifth place after ten wins from 11 in all competitions. The one blip in the road came in a 1-4 loss to high-flying Bournemouth but other than this, it has been plain sailing for Newcastle who are fresh off of a commanding 1-3 win on the South Coast over Southampton.
Eddie Howe’s side have been in terrific goalscoring form, scoring 30 goals in this run, with Alexander Isak involved in 14 of these. The Swede has now scored 17 goals and registered five assists in 21 Premier League starts, averaging 1.15 goal contributions per 90.
The 25-year-old is averaging 0.75 xG and 0.15 xA per 90, as well as having 3.31 shots and 1.79 chances created per 90. It is not just the Premier League where Isak is shining, also scoring against Chelsea and Arsenal in the EFL Cup victories.
Fulham, like Newcastle, are having a strong season and sit 10th after a disappointing home defeat to struggling Manchester United. The Whites have now just won one of their last five Premier League games, coming in the 0-2 win at Leicester, as they experience their first ‘mini blip’ of the season. Going forward, Marco Silva’s side have been entertaining, scoring 34 goals, while they’ve conceded 31. The Portuguese manager favours attacking football – a principle he likely won’t compromise at St. James Park after seeing the success Bournemouth have when pressing from the front.
The Whites have kept just four Premier League clean sheets this season and may struggle to contain a potent Newcastle side that have blanked just three times in all competitions, scoring in their last 14. If the hosts do get onto the scoresheet at least once as expected, Alexander Isak should be at the forefront of it.

Newcastle vs Fulham Injuries, Team News and Possible Lineups Prediction: Minimal injuries for both
Some of Newcastle’s early season struggles came from their disappointing transfer window, selling players but not getting adequate replacements. This left their injury-stricken side stretched and struggling to deal with the intensity of the Premier League.
However, Eddie Howe is slowly starting to welcome back players to full fitness, with only back-ups Callum Wilson, Harvey Barnes and Jamaal Lascelles absent through injuries. Similar could be said about Fulham on the injury front. Only Reiss Nelson and Kenny Tete remain out, while Harry Wilson is touch and go after limping off early in the second half against Manchester United.
Newcastle possible starting lineup:
Dubravka; Livramento, Schär, Burn, Hall; Joelinton, Tonali, Guimaraes; Gordon, Isak, Murphy
Fulham possible starting lineup:
Leno; Castange, Anderson, Bassey, Robinson; Lukic, Berge, Traore, Smith-Rowe, Iwobi; Jimenez
Match OPTA Stats
- Newcastle are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League home games against Fulham (W5 D3) keeping six clean sheets in that run since a 1-0 loss in May 2009.
- Fulham won the reverse fixture against Newcastle 3-1 in September – only in 2006-07 and 2008-09 have they completed the Premier League double over the Magpies.
- Newcastle United have won seven of their last eight Premier League matches (L1), winning the most points of any side across their last eight games (21), while only Liverpool (25) have scored more goals than the Magpies (22) in this spell.
- Fulham have picked up 16 points in 11 away Premier League games this season (W4 D4 L3), only two fewer than they managed last season (18 in 19 games). Their 1.45 points-per-game on the road in 2024-25 is their best tally in a single Premier League season.
