Before the players based in Europe can go on their summer breaks, there is a busy and exciting match day in the UEFA Nations League to get stuck into. Spain taking on Portugal is definitely the pick of the bunch, but there is plenty of value to be had elsewhere as well.

Saturday MLS Best Bets: June 2nd

  • Spain vs Portugal – Under 9 Corners (1.83)
  • Slovenia vs Sweden – Under 2.5 Goals & Over 6 Corners (1.84)
  • Serbia vs Norway – Over 2.5 Goals (2.00)

Nations League Acca Odds: 6.74

Spain vs Portugal Best Bet

Thursday, June 2nd, 19:45 (UK Time)

Spain largely impressed in the Euros last summer before being beaten by the eventual winners Italy. The team have rediscovered some of their swagger under Luis Enrique, and they continue to dominate possession in the same fashion as they did during their trophy laden spell from 2008-2012.

Spain have had 64% of the ball or more in their three meetings with Portugal, and one team dominating possession often means there are very few corners in the match. Enrique’s team lack a significant aerial threat and this means they seldom rely on goals from set-pieces.

Portugal do have a significant aerial threat in the form of Diego Jota and Cristiano Ronaldo, but they are likely to allow Spain to pass the ball around before attempting to hit them on the break. bet365 have under nine corners priced at 1.83, and I’m happy to back this given the recent statistics.

Spain’s last 20 matches are averaging 8.05 corners per game and the two meetings between these teams since the World Cup have seen seven and eight corners. Portugal’s last 20 matches are averaging 9.25 corners, but their last five matches where they have been priced similarly to win (faced stronger opposition) have averaged just five corners in the match.

  • Selection: Under 9 Corners
  • Best Odds: 1.83 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 8/10

Slovenia vs Sweden Best Bet

Thursday, June 2nd, 19:45 (UK Time)

Sweden were beaten in the World Cup playoffs by Poland and will be disappointed that they aren’t competing in Qatar this winter after reaching the knockout stages of the European Championships. Slovenia also failed to qualify for the World Cup, and I’m not expecting a great game here after a long domestic season for the players.

Neither of these teams recent matches have seen a great deal of goals. Both of their last 20 matches are averaging 2.35 goals per game and the last time these two teams met, the game finished 0-0.

Under three goals in this match alone doesn’t give us a backable price alone, so I’m coupling it with match corners. bet365 have under three goals in the match and over six corners in the matches priced at 1.88 via the Bet Builder, and the corners stats make for good reading.

Slovenia’s last 20 matches average just under nine corners per game, while Sweden’s are averaging just under 10. Both of these are well above the required mark for this bet.

  • Selection: Under 2.5 Goals & Over 6 Corners
  • Best Odds: 1.84 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 8/10

Serbia vs Norway Best Bet

Thursday, June 2nd, 19:45 (UK Time)

Serbia beat Portugal to top spot in their World Cup qualifying group and forced Ronaldo and co. into securing their place in Qatar but winning in the playoffs. Norway finished third in their qualifying group despite the attacking talents of Erling Haaland, but we should see a good game here.

Norway put nine  past Armenia in their last match, and although Serbia represents a much bigger step-up in class, it shows exactly what Norway are about in terms of attacking intent. Their last 20 matches have averaged 2.8 goals per game and this one should be fairly open with less pressure on the players for the Nations League than the World Cup qualifiers.

Serbia’s last 20 matches are averaging 2.75 goals per game and over 2.5 goals in the game has landed in six of their last 10. Betfair and Paddy Power have over 2.5 goals in the matches priced at 2.25.

  • Selection: Over 2.5 Goals
  • Best Odds: 2.25 (Betfair/Paddy Power)
  • Stake: 7/10

WHAT IS A FOOTBALL ACCA?

A  football acca is an accumulator bet, a type of bet that consists of several selections across different matches that are combined together into one single bet. An acca usually. consists of at least four selections but many more can be included. There will be odds for the single bet as a whole which is calculated by multiplying the odds of all of the selections. A football acca is one of the most popular ways to bet. This is the case because they can create potentially massive odds for a small stake. Many punters choose to create football accas which is what we have created here. If one of these selections loses then the football acca will lose. This type of bet needs every selection to win in order to succeed.
