Rodri’s Absence Forces City’s Hand

According to Fichajes, Rodri’s influence on City’s midfield has been undeniable, and his absence leaves a massive hole in the squad. As a result, City’s management is said to be considering a significant investment to strengthen their midfield this winter. One name that has emerged at the top of their list is Nicolò Barella, currently playing for Inter Milan.

Nicolò Barella to City: A January Target?

City are looking closely at the 27-year-old Italian international as a potential solution. Barella, known for his all-action midfield performances and ability to contribute both defensively and offensively, has been one of Inter Milan’s standout players in recent seasons. The Italian has 57 caps for the national team, scoring 10 goals, and has a contract with the Nerazzurri running until June 2029.

While Inter Milan have no intention of selling Barella mid-season, City are reportedly preparing to test their resolve with a bid in excess of €80 million (£69m). Guardiola’s side isn’t the only club interested, however, with Real Madrid and Liverpool both monitoring Barella, though their focus seems to be on a summer move.
