Angers to continue scoring trend
Nice host Angers in Sunday’s early match hoping to bounce back after a difficult period of form that has seen them lose two of their last three games.
What has been most concerning for Christophe Galtier’s side is that they have been outplayed by both Clermont and Lyon in recent defeats, showing a level that has not been befitting of their position in third.
Indeed, they have struggled comparatively at home this season, winning only 18 points in 12 matches in comparison to 25 in 12 on their travels.
Angers, meanwhile, are similarly out of form. They have lost seven of their last 10 and three of their last four away matches. Despite this, they have a good track record of finding the net on their travels.
Both teams have scored in 10 of Angers’ last 11 away games, with the exception being a 0-0 draw in Lorient, in which they were rapidly reduced to 10 men. In their last away fixture, there were seven goals as they lost 5-2 to Marseille, crumbling after taking a quick 2-0 lead.

Lorient vs Montpellier Best Bet
Lorient on the up
Lorient have moved out of the relegation zone in recent weeks thanks to an improved spell of results and they will be hopeful that trend continues against a Montpellier outfit struggling to find its best level at present.
The Breton side have lost only three times at home this season – all in derby matches and all coming in succession during the late autumn. They have stabilised themselves since, with draws against PSG, Angers and a victory against Lens.
Indeed, they have favoured playing the better teams at home. They have won against the likes of Monaco, Lille and Nice on top of the point they got from the Parisians.
Meanwhile, recent performances have been increasingly confident, with January additions bringing some fresh life to an attack that seemed starved of confidence. Even the loss of several experienced defensive players has not thrown them, with Leo Petrot coming in last weekend to play superbly in an unexpected 0-0 draw away against Monaco.
Montpellier, meanwhile, have lost four of their last five games and have shown a consistent propensity to self-destruct late in matches during this period. They have already lost to relegation candidates Troyes and Saint-Etienne during this time.

OM and Clermont to provide goals
For a period over the winter, Marseille became rather dour and unexciting to watch, yet recent matches have reversed that trend. Indeed, the OM now playing is closer to the exciting team that thrilled neutrals in August and September.
Each of Marseille’s last three games have produced goals and excitement. The addition of Cedric Bakambu has sparked a return to form of striker Arkadiusz Milik, who followed up a spectacular overhead winner against Metz last weekend with a midweek Conference League double against Qarabag in a 3-1 win.
OM rotated heavily in that fixture so will be fresh for this game, with all their key forward players firing. Given they have scored 10 goals in their last three outings, that is very positive news for the Stade Velodrome crowd.
Clermont, too, have been involved in exciting games lately. Three of their last four have produced at least three goals.
Indeed, the over/under market seems to be the way forward for this fixture. Clermont have won unexpectedly against Rennes and Nice in their last three before losing against a poorer Saint-Etienne side, so their form is tricky to call. Marseille, meanwhile, have only taken maximum points on five of 12 occasions at the Velodrome in the league.
